then why does evil (moral, natural, hybrid/combo evil) exist?
Here goes again the classic issue..."If you are an atheist...why bother answering the question." Are you somehow following along this line of thought? 'Cause if you do, we would end up dropping the question down to why is there evil in this world? which could lessen the challenge of the given question. Or simply said, such tendency would close the doors for an interesting possible dialogue.
I was thinking we could open some books here by Dostoevsky, CS Lewis, Harold Kushner... etc... and maybe combine it with our own experience... Or better, just share our own experience without even using books. This doesn't just make the topic academic, but more so, sensible. In this sense, we are more open, more humble enough even to not disregarding the first premise of the sentence, despite what our stance is.
so what's your point? you made a topic about GOD being omnipotent, omniscient, all good, and merciful, yet you divert the topic and went astray by talking about entering heaven, etc. there certainly is no line of thought here. does being an atheist prohibit me from answering questions about GOD? absolutely not.![]()
God is omnipotent and omniscient, all good, and merciful. then why does evil (moral, natural, hybrid/combo evil) exists?
it's the glamour of drama![]()
Does being an atheist prohibit you from answering any question about God?
Huh. You are taking it literally. Of course not. Precisely that's the point. Who cares if you are an atheist. Well, I care. But if it has become a compulsion, then I think it 's not good. Again, it's you yourself avoiding the question. You are yourself prohibiting to answer. I'm a Christian, but doesn't mean it prohibits me to read the Koran. Do you get the point here?
My point is, the way you answer whether you are an atheist or not, does not give you a score of flat 1.
And unless if you want to go to hell, in which existence perhaps you don't also believe, there I'm convince you truly are an atheist.
i certainly don't believe in the concept of heaven and hell---and i already answered the topic, which is, that GOD is none of the above. precisely why there is evil in the first place. if he was all-powerful, evil would not exist. we would be a perfect world. imagine a universe without a GOD. now, imagine a universe WITH a GOD. big difference, eh?
