Thread: StarStruck V

  1. #21

Ritchie D. Nolasco is obviously blinded by her passion and dedication to these entertainer-wannabes!

So much, her judgment is questionnable. Nolasco is gradually becoming as annoying and as unrelenting like Catsteven Betonio (who is on the opposite side of the entertainment discussion - blasting local talents and even calling some of them "whores").

    Nolasco - pro local talents
    Betonio - anti local talents

    To Ritchie

No matter how many pictures of "talents" you put on this thread, the truth still remains:

    1. Education is still a priority, not the dreams of showbiz glitter.
    2. People who finish their formal education have better chances of getting professional jobs - most of which pay much higher than most of those local entertainment jobs.
    3. People who drop out of school don't realize the social and financial traps that await them.
    4. People who drop out of school don't realize the consequences of halting their education until it's too late.
    5. People who drop out of school end up getting low-paying jobs, which are not enough to help them survive in society.

As for those young people in the pictures, I only hope that they are staying in school. Dropping out is essentially throwing your future and your security away just for the sake of something worth less (in this case - Pinoy showbiz).

As for your words "It's just that school is an obstacle for young people to develop their talents and it causes them to miss the golden opportunities to become rich and famous overnight"

Let me tell you, and to all readers online, that these "golden opportunities to become rich and famous overnight" are obstacles that can disrupt or stop the youth from completing their education.

Being born is one thing, but being exceptional on the global level is another - one that requires long term development, sacrificing, achievements and success.

When Lea Salonga won the Tony Award for Miss Saigon in 1991, some delusional Manila columnist declared that "Filipinos are born world-class!"

The "born great" concept is a delusion you share with that columnist.

Let's see if the people auditioning at StarStruck can truly display great talent that can be compared with others from the rest of the world.

    More about StarStruck V

The Freeman today has a pic of an applicant trying out at recent StarStruck audition, printed on page 2.

GMA Cebu News showed some clips of the said audition on the TV today. While there were some applicants and other talent wannabes shown, the footage did not show any long lines (maybe there were no long lines).

    Dream...Believe...Survive...DROP OUT!

That must be the mentality of these careless people - always looking to talent searches for "salvation". They even have a passionate speaker/defender here who declared "Now is a good time for young students to quit school, practice their talents, make themselves look pretty and join the audition!!!"

    Dumb and pathetic.

having a choice does not mean you can easily exploit your freedom to choose, if only for something as superficial as showbiz. look around you, are there any decent and noteworthy filipino movies nowadays? i admire other artist who are truly good at their craft and those who truly deserves to be there. most, if not all start in showbiz because they are either sons and daughters of somebody already famous(even if they dont have the talents to boot). while some manage to enter the industry in their bikini clad bodies...

obviously this industry is promoting a twisted mindset to the masses. talk about teleseryes, aside from them lacking originality, and predictable plot, the story is usually about somebody abusing somebody. killing and scheming is just a norm. what does that imply to the young kids who are watching? and even the adults? they create drama kings and queens who are so engrossed with the lousy stuff they see on tv. to make matters worst, do they learn anything from it?

these so called reality search is selling the idea that you have to be a celebrity to be rich and famous. because of this, people flock auditions and spend their time and money preparing for such. if they dont get in this time, maybe they will the next time...so they do what it takes to be prepared for the next, neglecting the essentials as they go along like their studies.

and saying that school is an OBSTACLE for young people to develop their talents causes them to miss the golden opportunities to become rich and famous overnight... are you even thinking? what opportunity are you talking about? the opportunity to throw your future away only to be humiliated and ridiculed for the world to see?

i dont have anything against you personally but what your saying is totally disturbing. now my pessimism towards what your are promoting is confirmed - that pinoy showbiz really gives people sick and shallow ideas about life.
    Very true and rightfully said.

A friend of mine told me a classroom story of his wherein his professor told him and his classmates that the two big TV networks, GMA and ABS-CBN, continue to idiotize the masses with their programs and media gimmicks.

Incidentally, the organizing of these reality TV shows do in fact distract the youth from their priorities and the prospects of "instant" wealth, fame and comfort are factors here.

As for StarStruck, you can be sure that there will be many rejects from the auditions, and the lucky few who could make it will be played like toys by the network executives. Remember those moments of "intrigue" on past StarStruck (or other talent search programs for that matter)? I believe they were scripted just for entertaining viewers (and the participants' emotions got played as well).

There were Cebuanos who made it to certain levels at the last StarStruck. Since they dropped out of that season, what did they achieve afterwards?

As for the so-called grand winners of the last StarStruck, how are they doing now?

..waaaa...@Ritchie..are you serious in promoting to stop the youth in schooling for fame?..

..fame withers..but knowledge gained is more precious and can't be easily withered..

..schools can enhance our artistic inclination..and even be a good critic towards art..
