It's crazy to see someone advocate dropping out of school for instant fame/wealth/comfort in the unpredictable Pinoy showbiz industry.

Those who believe in it often resort to tired reasons like "it's their choice" - sure people have the choices to make for their own future, but completing education is much more important than showbiz. Dropping out is very much like throwing your future away for something worth less.

If the youth wants to join the auditions, they can do it WITHOUT having to drop out. The auditions only mark the beginning (not the conclusion) of the quest for fame and fortune. Quitting school is easily one of the biggest mistakes any person around the world can make.

And if these dropouts fail at the auditions, are they willing to go back to school and finish? Will they take low paying jobs in the meantime? Can they make sure they won't fall into poverty?

With talent search programs at hand, it's quite obvious that the TV networks will never admit being responsible for causing students to give up their education. They can always say "It's their choice!" as their main excuse.

One last thing, I think the person who started this thread must have some friends/insiders in Pinoy showbiz...or worse the person is somehow connected with the big network.

    Speak out, Ritchie D. Nolasco.

To BABYPAUPAU - Alright, I think I went overboard with the "quit school" concept. I just want to inform as many Cebuanos as possible that the golden opportunity to become rich and famous beyond their wildest dreams is coming to Cebu through Starstruck. You are right that Pinoy showbiz is filled with the people you mentioned and but to say the people with "IQ of an ostrich" is very insulting to your fellow Filipinos (and Cebuanos).

Cebu youths have the choice to do what they want (like quitting school to pursue their passion in anything) and I think the reason here is that they probably did not get the responsible parenthood they should have had. I notice a lot of adults and youths getting passive over many elements of society nowadays.

Still, I believe that every Cebuano born is a world-class entertainer and artist.

To SHARKEY360 - To answer your questions - I am NOT connected or affiliated with any media or entertainment organization. I do, however, have friends in local showbiz and most of them worked as talents for GMA Cebu. Among them is our own superstar Ms. Lou Dayoc.

To all of you reading this: I am a pro-choice lady who strongly believes in the artistry and talentry of Cebu. I think it is time that the next global superstar should come from Cebu, not from America, not from Europe but only Cebu. I might sound delusional but I am telling this with all my feelings.

I have nothing against education. It's just that school is an obstacle for young people to develop their talents and it causes them to miss the golden opportunities to become rich and famous overnight - and represent Cebu at the top of the world.

I regret stating that youths should drop out to grab such opportunities. It definitely is WRONG (my apologies to those of you who agreed otherwise).

I agree it is possible to audition without quitting education. I agree also that big networks like GMA, ABS-CBN and others should promote education and offer comprehensive tutorials or scholarships to their talents regardless of their social status.

i quote "with the exemption of very few".

having a choice does not mean you can easily exploit your freedom to choose, if only for something as superficial as showbiz. look around you, are there any decent and noteworthy filipino movies nowadays? i admire other artist who are truly good at their craft and those who truly deserves to be there. most, if not all start in showbiz because they are either sons and daughters of somebody already famous(even if they dont have the talents to boot). while some manage to enter the industry in their bikini clad bodies...

obviously this industry is promoting a twisted mindset to the masses. talk about teleseryes, aside from them lacking originality, and predictable plot, the story is usually about somebody abusing somebody. killing and scheming is just a norm. what does that imply to the young kids who are watching? and even the adults? they create drama kings and queens who are so engrossed with the lousy stuff they see on tv. to make matters worst, do they learn anything from it?

these so called reality search is selling the idea that you have to be a celebrity to be rich and famous. because of this, people flock auditions and spend their time and money preparing for such. if they dont get in this time, maybe they will the next time...so they do what it takes to be prepared for the next, neglecting the essentials as they go along like their studies.

and saying that school is an OBSTACLE for young people to develop their talents causes them to miss the golden opportunities to become rich and famous overnight... are you even thinking? what opportunity are you talking about? the opportunity to throw your future away only to be humiliated and ridiculed for the world to see?

i dont have anything against you personally but what your saying is totally disturbing. now my pessimism towards what your are promoting is confirmed - that pinoy showbiz really gives people sick and shallow ideas about life.

Let's see if Cebu's talent will agree with you.

If they don't, you will get humiliated. Entertainment is something that Cebuanos can excel in and become millionaires themselves.

i dont need them to agree with me, im just saying my POV.
i dont have any doubts about cebuano talent because being one, i think cebu has alot to offer. take urbandub for one. i happen to be a fan of their music.

talent is not just confined in acting...which i think is ironic in this case because with show business, a good number of people who are in this industry dont even know how to act for crying out loud! they cant act to save their lives.

Someday, you will realize that you are wrong about Cebu showbiz and its world-class talents (and the choices they make).

Show your love to Cebu's entertainers, artists and talents, even though Pinoy showbiz is flawed.

i dont think you get it.
