I think the reason why the manufacturers did not like the idea of a USB Powered router is because... take the scenario below:
If you have two PCs, for example, and your USB Powered router is connected to PC1. In order for your PC2, connected as well to the other port of your router (LAN), to connect to the internet is that you have to turn on first your PC1. Otherwise, you have to get that router off from your PC1 and connect it to PC2. But, imagine if your PC1 is on the ground floor, and your PC2 is at your room on the 3rd floor.

Dili diay mao akong nasabtan? USB powered router man kaha? Dili man kaha router with USB port or kaha USB powered modem? Ang ako mangud is Router siya nga giconnect sa PC through USB port. Wala pud siyay power cord ba kay ang USB ra nagpa-andar niya. Originally Posted by L1Technician

Ahhh! Ang WAN port sa router is a USB port? Pagkita nako sa word nga "powered" kay mao man akong na-imagine gud. hehehe!
