if it can last a day, that's fine by me... i've gotten used to daily, overnight charging as i've used power-hungry phones such as the N-GAGE and the nokia 6260, optimizing both for music and gaming.

It looks fancy... it looks like a toy... and motorola's definitely going to kick their own asses when this get's released. If the ROKR E1 was a drawback, how much more would this phone be. Not unless of course if the price is good. Heard that design is just temporary. Hope they fix it soon enough.

i dont' think ROR e2 will be released any sooner. it wil kill their alreddy barely breathing e1 sales.

btw, nice revamp of the thread here. now we can include personal reviews of other music phones and perhaps compare them!

my main concern is batt life. my e398 (one year old now) because of a firmware hack, lasts only a day if i use the mp3 player (iTunes) for an average of 8 hours. what abot the others?

finally got to ez=xamine w550i, i have to admit, it really does look good , with the swing factor and all.

W550i boasts of a 900 mAh lithium polymer battery which promises a longer stand by time.Â* With normal use, next recharging will be approx 4-5 days from last charging.Â* With extensive use of the Walkman or FM radio on loudspeaker at max volume, you may need to recharge the next day.Â* I don't really wait for the batt to totally drain.Â* So far, so good although this wasn't as specified by the manufacturer.

The E398 on the other hand was one of the first phones equipped with stereo surround sound. Even now, I would admire the phone's feel of compactness and durability. Add the possiblities of expanding the memory plus the vibrating effect when playing the phone in loudspeaker mode. Not to mention the rhythmic lights. Overall, still a good option. And I would love to have one of these as a second phone in future... kung naay kwarta. hehehe Then I'd be modding.

@ fiero and larvs, finally was able to get a feel of the w550i. wow, it's tiny and the keypad aint really that difficult! since it's only a 1.3MP and with enough mp3s, i say the 256 mem it has is enough.
i have a nokia ngage with a 512MB mmc and about 50% of its capacity is games. cant get enough of Asphalt Urban GT, its like a mobile Need for Speed game. it's one thing when i'll be buying a new phone this friday. I'm getting either a v3 or the w550i. went to ayala yesterday adn woah!!!! most v3's are getting sold out before i could even touch them! Grrr!!!! palit na unta ko v3,larvs. i think 11.6k ra sa maze.

omg! moto's really pushing thru with that design?! i guess they're so super-confident about the amped up features that they think a TOY like this would sell... are they trying to go retro with their designs like nokia is?

if this thing capsizes, it'll be another E disaster...
