as ive said...there is no need to fancy those statue and churches...god is everywhere right?which means to say he doesnt need those stuffs...

its just a total show off for catholicism to say how much they love their religion..its not about that.its about how u obey whats on the bible.as long as u know whats right from wrong then u have god in u.

i certainely DISAGREEE...for christsake catholics u wake up!!!!

ikaw pud manny...kadaghan way kaon diha...way trabaho...how about in his 1 billion he will make worth of it?
those poor people wont be able to appreciate that statue...not even those crook ones on the street.

oh come on... whats so good about the statue?can it sustain our countrymen who need financial help?

    no right
so simple as that..we dont need another tourist spot now bro coz everyone is now struggling to survive so no one would appreciate it aside from that priest.

ur priest is just too selfish...this is only a way of him to show off...to prove to people how big believer he is that he could build that statue but...whats the point??anyone can answer me whats the point of building that statue?

If Fr. Suarez is proven to be doing the wrong thing, I have no problem with saying he is wrong. But we have to know the FACTS first.

From what I've read so far, he is in trouble for not following the Church guidelines for a Healing Mass. And his project sounds quite big. But there are no figures for costs, the actual items the alleged 1 billion will be spent on, whether that amount is true, or any figures on the return on investment that they expect. So there's no way to judge whether the project is beneficial or not.

Given the limited information we have now, I would be careful about spending so much. There's a lot of risk involved. If it pays off, then there will be more money for helping the poor and it would be a wise move. If it doesn't pay off, that's money wasted. But then I don't have the numbers so I have to be responsible and wait for the facts to come out.

The bottomline: we need the facts BEFORE we judge someone's actions.
and u got those facts from the internet not from conducting urself a study of the project itself.who knows?they might just be covering their asses and at the end of the day..once they built that statue we just found out how much theyve been covering their asses.

i did check the npo started by suarez back in '96.
as far i can see right here hes apparently helping out the less
fortunate and has been reaching out to establish homes for people.

honestly i really dnt know if judging this guy directly is a good decision.
maybe manny amador is just asking for facts to back up what other side
of the arguement is trying to say. dba what hes asking is fair sad?
its true that hearsay doesnt really help at all. anyone knows that.

also i hope this discussion, goes out peacefully unlike some threads that has
been locked up (or vanished) for being aggressive and for posting way out of topic posts.
its never a problem to disagree pero we just have to make sure we are responsible
for the things thats coming from our posts.

the things that we speak, my friends, is definitely the reflection of what we are
as a person. wa pa gani ta kaila sa tao manghusga na dayun. now dnt get me
wrong, its not that im siding with anyone here. its just that we have to make sure
that what we say(some pa with conviction to the death) is a hundred percent
fact, not fallacy. otherwise the purpose of having this kind of discussion goes
    out to waste.

so relax lang. chill ra mu oi. think. think. think again. then speak.

    Mary Mother of the Poor

The foundation is a non-profit organization of Catholic religious and lay persons that was started informally by Father Suarez in 1996. He saved his own stipend to begin putting his vision of helping the poor children into reality. Since then, the foundation has been growing and with the help of patrons and volunteers, the MMP has been growing and able to help numerous amount of those in need. They are registered in Canada and are dedicated to help relieve poverty, coordinate health and social services, advance and teach Catholic tenets and help the youth develop their talents.

    Building Projects

In 2004, MMP built and financed a classroom for students having class under a tree or some exposed space. They also built houses for two families that were affected by a typhoon.
In 2005, MMP constructed and financed a two-story home for ten families that were living under a roof supported by four bamboo pillars. They also extended a high school that was affected by landslide and was in need of a library and extra rooms.
In 2006, MMP built a mission house to provide housing for seminarians and visiting priests. The Mary Mother of the Poor Village was also constructed to build homes for thousands of families.
The projects of the Mary Mother of the Poor are continuously working on helping provide shelter for those in need.

    Livelihood and Economic Projects

To further help the poor help themselves, MMP provide livelihood opportunities for them. This includes fish farming, handicrafts, and even a small power plant. They also provided seminars aimed to teach people how to cook with more nutritious foods as well as creating products to generate money. This was held in Butong, Batangas.

    Scholarship and Youth Evangelization

They are currently sponsoring one hundred twenty-three scholars (ranging from elementary to college) and six seminarians. Scholarships are offered in full term up to graduation, provided that the students stay in good academic standing. MMP also provides daycare.
MMP also provieds spiritual support to the students and includes mass, praise, dramatization and spiritual outreach.

    Feeding Program

MMP is currently feeding more than 3000 malnourished children from five different schools: Pulot Apaya, Pulot Itaas, De La Paz Itaas, Ilihan and Pagkilatan. They provide lunch five days a week and is conducted by volunteer teachers and parents and is mostly financed through donations.

You simple dont get it my dear..

now, are your parents are Atheist too? did they teach you morals from an atheist point of view? did they not ask God's mercy just to make you grow as what you are now? think of it lady atheist.

    now back to topic:
for me if that is really true i hope his project will help the needy NOT for his own interest. but still we need FACTUAL SOURCE not HEARSAY.

yeah! hail those who pick on Fr. Suarez for erecting the multimillion shrine rather than spending the 'donated' money for the poor. you see, these people share their meals everyday with street children, these people dont have a night life because they find it better to donate money for the poor, they dont own cellphones too kay usik ang load maypa ipakaon sa mga pobre, and yes theyre always present in every istorya.net charity activity! see? their hearts bleed so much for the poor!

i think the 1B pesos is not for the statue alone but for the entire shrine.
