apathy and lack of parental guidance and motivation.

as parents it is not enough.

i remembered when i was living with my parent, our typical family discussion during lunch and dinner was life, politics, religion, morality, education and even show business and love life. i even wished we included sports and music more

it is not enough for parents to just guide children in their studies, they should guide them through life because it is not a guarantee that an intelligent person can endure the realities of everyday life.

succeeding is just one aspect of life but surviving IS life, if you have both qualities then you are all set. mao bitaw na'ay kasabihan na "daig ng masinop ang matalino."

bitaw, why not leave her alone...shes a fighter, shes a leader and shes a responsible campus journalist.. whether or not she joined the movement, its up to her and its her decision, pero you should not say nga way au ang CEGP, because it does not mean nga CEGP ka, NPA ka...ayaw gud mo pataka. and also she did alot for the Velezians, also what she did is a good way how to be a nurse, kaysa sa mag abroad nga kwarta ray huna-huna. kung nag medical mission man gani cya, its because she loves the poor farmes in negros oriental...katong wa kaila niya, panghilom nalang mo.. ug mangutana ko? unsay nabuhat ninyo sa Pilipinas... if you are not the solution then definitely your part of the problem.

ensakto tong usa ka poster dire nga Rachelle Mae may have high IQ but not sa EQ. she may be very good academically, but not street smart or resilient enough to accept the harsh realities in life. and that's exactly one of the weaknesses the CPP-NPA are looking for in the youth.

u know what, if she could just have pursued her promising career sa nursing abroad and accumulate some money, then by that time she could go back home to help the farmers by way of funding medical missions or some sort of project w/ the Dept of Agri (or even joining a leftist partylist group or an oppositionist newspaper) without even being part of being an NPA. heck, she could even run for a political post if indeed she wants to address the plight of the farmers.

coz in her case, she is intelligent and has leadership skills, and could do better as a left-leaning political leader instead of just an armed guerilla in the bondooks. simply put, usik kaau ang brains.

and coz when u take up arms, u no longer become a civilian. and that will be another story.

yes, money may not matter for her, but let us remember that money is also what keeps the CPP-NPA surviving up to this day. Thanks to their international financiers and supporters. Money is what lets them obtain weapons and the logistics (and power & influence too).

coz in any political endeavor, be it right-winged, center, or left-wing, money is always part of the equation. and she (Bless her soul) should know better.

That's wonderful. Nindut kaayo if every family ingun ana unta, wherein everyone is free and even encouraged to talk about all kinds of issues in life. Ideal jud kaayo na. Just imagine how beneficial that is: If a teenager has questions about life, the parents will be ready to hear her out and give her advice, and if she has beliefs or ideologies that she feels strongly about, the parents can challenge her ideas. They can have a sort of debate, and they can learn from each other, etc. In any case, there's a culture of openness inside the family. A culture that encourages independent thinking, responsibility, courage, wisdom, pragmatism, common sense, etc.
