there is a difference.. I killed a person for the safety of 1-3-10 or more innocent civilians.

That's not the case here. The suspects were already disarmed and there's no reason to kill them or teach them a lesson. Self defense no longer applies in that case. Doing more than disarming the suspects will just put the ex-Marine in hot waters, i.e. physical injuries.
