well you will feel that your engine is not in good shape. less power, more gas. you would have to step on the pedal and exert more gas just to move the car.
about the gadget im not sure though if there is. i guess naa na xa sa mga hightech car shops.

and another factor for manual tranny is the clutch...

I think there is because there's this product which i saw exhibiting from car shows, it looks like an oil in can but according to them, it's intended for cars which needed to be overhauled or having loose compression. It's being poured in the engine and upon reaching 5000kms, the fluid which was poured would tend to form a some sort of hard material without replacing the partsl, even harder than the original surfaces in the engine as they claimed. They even showed a some sort of chart done from Mitsubishi casa a comparison between a very poor performance car (loose compression) and the performance of the same car 5000kms travelled after it was treated. It showed the performance of a brand new car. So there must be a gadget for measuring engine's compression. Well, with that product, i pity the mechanics because they'll lose overhauling jobs.

hmm havnt heard of that yet, mybe it would cause the crank shaft to be stucked. i mean from what you said it will from some kinda hard material inside the engine block? id still stick with the traditional way hehehe but thats a good product though if it realy works..

The fluid which later and gradually forms into a new hard surface surfaces out on the different parts of the engine, wherever the oil surfaces, so does that product because it's mixed with oil. They have warranty, if you don't see the improvement of the performance of your car after travelling 5000kms, it's a money back guarantee. What's amazing is that based on the chart, the mitsubishi casa "daw" explained that only a brand new car can yield the kind of reading that it showed after treating a very poor performanced car in which the chart reading was almost at the bottom. And according to them, the 100% hard surfaced material will only start wearing out after it has travelled 100,000kms from the start of 5000km travelled, which means to say, it starts going down to 99% and so on after 100,000kms, amazing isn't it?

il try to research about that. whats the name or brand of the fluid thing?

Question: If you take off that cover where you fill it for oil change, and smoke comes out of it, does it mean that the car is in loose compression? Or when you rev the engine and some tiny splashes come out of that hole, does it mean loose compression?

I forgot the product's name, but when i knew about it, there was only one distributor for that product (according to the exhibitor) and it was located at either Subangdaku or Tipolo, Mandaue. I think the name of the auto store is kings.

i dont quite get the question. what hole are we talking about here?

That hole where you pour in the oil.

"loose compression" -> kung ang imo engine does not perform to which it is supposed to perform at high performance. i.e.:

    - kung naay buslot ang usa or more na piston in which pag burn niya sa fuel lahi ang iyang combustion compared to other piston chamber. so meaning if tis happens mo layat every complete turn kay lain iyang pag pump

-dili sakto ang pag hatag sa fuel in terms dili sakto pagka angay from the carburator or the fuel injector(if fuel injected) meaning kung ang usa ka chamber receives more fuel to burn than that of the others then dili gihapon maangay pag rotate sa crank(this is usually the reason ngano mawala sa timing ang makina).

-pag palit daan ug usa kaha beer beh; kay istoryahan pa tika more about sa engine compression joke.
