The best way for comparison is have a liter test between shifting gears at 2k-2.5k (as per Aztina's opinion) and shifting gears lower than 2k, then we'll see if there are changes. Because based on what Aztina said, it's no longer economical if you shift gear lower than 2k rpm. Aztina, do you fix cars ba? Or you just have theories about engines? Because i have a some sort of a challenging question/s for you about my car in which no mechanics have ever solved it regarding gas consumption.

nope im not a mekanik. and nope its not a theory, and definitly not my opinion. its already been tried and tested. thats why they said average and the most efficient way of shifting gears.
    try knowing your RPM first.

    Car/model: Toyota Corolla

    Year: 2008

    Engine: 1.8L I4

    Consumption (liter/km): 34 mpg (hi-way), 28 mpg (city driving)

Reaction: with the gas prices, i love this car more than anything else.

Aztina, what other factors which could contribute to inefficient gas consumption far from the standard specs of the car aside from weight, shifting gears, traffic, busted carburetor and exhaust pipe doesn't emit smoke? I'm referring to a gasoline type of car.

state of your engine, tire pressure, wheel size, alignment of wheels, suspension, weather.

when you say state of the engine, how do you determine the state of the engine? And what about suspension?

loose compresion, needs oil, sparkplug, filter change, tune up,, in short your engine must be in good condition. simple maintenance.

for suspension: if you have busted shocks, your wheels might be imbalance causing more drag, or causing less grip on the road.

how do i know if my engine's in loose compression? Aside from emitting smoke from the exhaust pipe? In addition, is there a gadget to measure the engine's compression? And if without the gadget, what other means of determining loose compression?
