IMHO yes we are truly independent in terms of our decision-making though there might be instances that it's influence by foreign intervention but it's not only the Ph that may have experienced it

Why are we so good at English language?

We are bound by neo-colonialism. Most Filipinos these days do not appreciate Filipino culture and products anymore. I don't understand why my niece that despite being born in Cebu for 11 years she can't speak Bisaya properly. I hate people who are like this.
