SOME major roads in Cebu City will be closed on Friday, January 15, to pave the way for two religious events.
Over the weekend, several roads will also be inaccessible to motorists for the solemn procession on Saturday and the Sinulog Grand Parade on Sunday.
At 4 a.m. tomorrow, a portion of Osmeņa Blvd., from Fuente Osmeņa all the way to the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niņo, will be closed to vehicular traffic for the Walk with Mary.
The closure will take effect an hour before the procession kicks off.
The Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) will reopen the road once the procession is over.
Advice
At 7 a.m., roads will also be closed for the translation motorcade, which takes the images of the Holy Child Jesus and Our Lady of Guadalupe to the National Shrine of St. Joseph in Mandaue City.
The motorcade will take the Banilad-Talamban road instead of the usual Mabolo-Subangdaku route.
Roads that will be closed to vehicular traffic will be Jakosalem St. to Gen. Maxilom Ave., Gorordo Ave, Archbishop Reyes Ave. and Gov. Cuenco Ave. up until A.S Fortuna St. in Mandaue City.
From A.S. Fortuna St., the motorcade will proceed to A. del Rosario St. before turning right to S.B. Cabahug St. where the St. Joseph Church is located.
The CCTO has advised drivers to take alternative routes.
