    Some people commented on FEM:

"Some people say, the Filipinos need an authoritarian figure to lead us. That could be true. During Marcos' days, discipline was instilled, albeit forcefully. In terms of economic policies, he built IRRI and transformed the country into the number 1 rice producing country in Asia, maybe the world. His downfall was not his own doing, it was because of his wife and the people around him, including then Defense Minister Juan Ponce Enrile. Debates still abound of what Marcos truly represented for the Philippines. One thing is for certain, he stayed in power not only because of the military, but because he was cognizant of what the country truly need and what things needed to be done."

"Only president that made me define myself as Filipino. Now it's so confusing. Are we little brownamericans are we Chinese or are we Hispanics. Under Marcos government offices in Pilipino, OPM, arts, culture, traditions were enhanced. Discipline reign supreme. The Filipinos are not ready for freedom. Freedom to them means lawlessness, arrogance, inconsideration. You can see it in how people fail to fall in line they crowd each other boarding and disembarking airplanes. A laughing stock in first world countries. You see it in blatant disobedience of street rules and laws. You see it in the greedy cops that stop you only to get money from you. You see it at the airport asking for merienda. You see it in cars jockeying for position to be first. You see it in jeepneys the number one lawbreakers at nite time you see it in abject poverty So many homeless sleeping on sidewalks. The GDP is not a reflection of a Filipino family. The new generation are just there indifferent to political dynasty their sense of surrender more than acceptance. If one can corrupt the lowest civil servant of this country then why follow rules. They break it cause they know "lagay" will get them scot free. All I can do is sigh! My efforts as one person is drowned by the multitudes who already gave up on their government."

    - these really got me thinking.. and it make sense.

In a way people back then benefited from that debt.

At least sa Marcos era the country was keen on empowering the GOCC and taking control of electricity and oil refinery thereby cheap ang electricity and gas price. A strong GOCC would also translate less dependent of income tax, government is making money like what China is doing.

Karon unsa man accomplishment makit-an nimo sa imong idol? ni balloon by 20%+ ang philippine debt since Penoy took office. kita ka ug accomplishment ?

just for the record di nako idol si Macoy.
/omg. I cannot fathom how illogical your ideology is. /facepalm

It's like getting a credit card, maxing it out on pa choy choy gears but you could not pay for it. So you are suggesting we should go through that route? Your line of thought disgusts me.

For my generation, it is hard to appreciate the gravity of the oppression under a military dictatorship. Most of us have not experienced the fear of the gravest reprisal for merely having the temerity to have an unfavorable opinion of those who are in power. Those who wish for "Marcos leadership" are either ignorant and sheltered young people or senile old people whose memory of decades past only span the fond moments of their younger years.

The most disgusting fact of all is that a lot of Filipinos seem to think we will be better off if Marcos were to be President again - like cattle yearning for their butcher.

And yeah off the record. Did I say I'm a pro-P-noy supporter? Read my post again. It just shows your reading, writing, line of thought and command of language is beyond sub-par.

Kung makalusot ta ato man jud buhaton bisan ug illegal parehas anang jaywalking or patakag labay sa basura. In short wa gyud tay desiplina. Naka trabaho man ko ug SG sa una, na obserbahan jud naku unsa ka lahi ang mga tao nga gi control kaysa gipasagdan lang.

The logic can be summarized like this:

If someone made a huge mistake, why didn't the person next to him correct that mistake? Instead why did he make it worse?

If FM really made a huge mistake, why didn't' the succeeding administrations never bothered to fix the problems he made?

Swiss bank accounts? Tax overseas bank accounts, just like how US does it. Why is there no law to fix it?

Debt? It is odious it can be repudiated. But why where government assets privatized and sold to Aquino cronies?

So, who is the lesser evil here?

Illogical ? the thread talks about achievements and you're talking about debt, is that sarcasm? Should it be that you debunk achievements here that you don't support ?

And I cant even fathom your response... Telling people "ignorant" and yet from your own words that you have no experience what had transpired back at that time.
how logical How did you come up with your conclusion ? You are better off than people with experiences ? lol.

How many old people had praise Macoy and telling young generation how good living back then that there's no poverty ? Should we labeled them ignorant eh?
Actually its much fearful living with the Cory admin where Coup d'etat were a common, crimes and looting is rising, NPA was on the rise, a peaceful demonstration turns to a massacre (Mendiola massacre caught on tape pa), plague with power outages,
you talked of corruption against the Cory administration PCGG will harrass you... hence the Cory cronies profiting with their loots.

I didnt say we are better off with Marcos but rather I appreciate the many achievements he made. Surely we are better off than Cory's admin.
    1. Marcos had given Cory the chance to recover the loot but she refused, thats according to VP Laurel.
    2. Cory had the chance not to honor the original terms of debt or not to pay the debt, availing debt forgiveness package same as to other countries once their dictator were overthrown.
Easy to lambast the debt incur during Marcos regime and again there was that option. Dont you feel any remorse on Cory's decision ?
    3. Cory didnt continue or sell off Marcos projects and some were given to her cronies. Those projects would had helped Filipino for generations.
    4. Some of Marcos loots were stolen when they fled by Cory's cronies eg jewels.
    5. Most of the govt workers were replaced by inexperienced ones hence we suffer, corruption prevails.

How would you explain your comment from the other thread that you voted for him and I still remember you from the 2010 election thread. Please dont deny it.

You don't have loyalty to Penoy so dont belittle others if they have some form of loyalty, no one here claimed that he was the perfect president they just admired the positive sides of his administration.

Sub par ? I dont need to further elaborate myself to an impertinent idle-head wanker cause for a good reason that its such a waste of time to elongate words here for someone who dwells in pa choy2x english as if they had informative comments to give or even respond sensibly to my rebuttals. Unlike you I never dwell on one liner posts to increase posts counts, my posts/rebuttals were long already what more if further articulate it. I would done it if you were RMK, monroy, aerlo, springy...

it's just that bad...or good (based on some comments here) how our 90's-onwards books are free of Marcos "good" things...but strongly portrayed as the ousted/martial law guy...
