then again, SG did not declared a martial.

During LKY, dunay election. Sa Pinas WALA.
they are virtually the same.. you think PAP has been doing nothing since they rule the political party since 1959?

But there was a national election in the Philippines on June 16, 1981 but was boycotted. Marcos won by a margin of over 16 million votes, which constitutionally allowed him to have another six-year term.

Again , wala nag declare ang SG ug martial law.

OK raman nang Fear ug Disiplina BASTA wa lay pag PANG ABUSO sa katawhan

So if ikaw isa ka GINIKANAN, ig naa ka sa Imung BALAY, MAHADLOKON imung mga ANAK nimu ug Dunay Disiplina - PERO if WALA ka sa inyung BALAY MASALBAHIS imung mga ANAK ug MAWALA ang BATASAN - TARUNG kaha ka nga GINIKANAN ana?
Mao na ang drawback sa martial law, there are always people who will abuse it and martial law is a breeding ground of communism, the irony.

About sa imong example, if you brought up the child with love and care dli na ma salhabis, so bottomline is; naa sa pag brought up sa ginikanan. same sa gi unsa pag brought up sa govt ang iyang mga tao, especially ang mga politiko. Lenient ta ang govt sa pilipinas, ug flawed ang justice system... and most impt way disciplina ang pinoy.

Walay martial law sa SG, wala pod rebelde sa SG. Wala pod MNLF and the likes..

first term ni Makoy it was like SG.. if continued lang to ang dagan ing-adto, the economy is booming and we crime is not rampant.

The achievement that Marcos entailed is that strong words and sublime intellect can control the trends of politics but actual and apparent misdemeanors would create revolt and upheavals. The populace could always make the final say and final verdict.

I find this thread stupid and I still see people talking about FM's "accomplishments" from time to time. The dude was in power for decades and borrowed money like he doesn't know what compound interest is. Today, a huge chunk of the national budget is spent on debt servicing - essentially paying down national debt. And a huge chunk of that was because of FM. Get your facts straight people!

So you will rather talk of debt than accomplishment ? Can't you see those military advancements; govt owned nuclear power plant, steel mill, fertilizer plant, petro chemical plant, other power plants; trains; public hospitals; infrastructure projects; etc... takes a lot of money to materialize. In a way people back then benefited from that debt.

At least sa Marcos era the country was keen on empowering the GOCC and taking control of electricity and oil refinery thereby cheap ang electricity and gas price. A strong GOCC would also translate less dependent of income tax, government is making money like what China is doing.

Karon unsa man accomplishment makit-an nimo sa imong idol? ni balloon by 20%+ ang philippine debt since Penoy took office. kita ka ug accomplishment ?

just for the record di nako idol si Macoy.

Mao, ok ra na mangutang basta naa tay Makita sa infrastructures. Kung wa ko masayop si Makoy ga initiate sa LRT ug sa daghan skyways sa Metro Manila. Siempre dako jud tog gasto mao kinahanglan mangutang ta. Need pod nato infra to attract investors especially foreign. Karon sigeg pangutang gihapon, pero daghan pa ba gud tang Makita nga bag-ong infra nga hapit na mahurot gani ug privatized mga public hospitals diri sa Manila.

Marcos apologists think of his achievments as something worth praising. Marcos had the final word on anything that moved in the economy, therefore even the rising of the sun would be to his credit! Lol. The absurdity of praising Marcos so called achievments is comparable to the absurdity of praising Kims of North Korea for all their achievements.

LKY cannot be compared with Marcos, though a dictator, LKY implemented the freeiest market relative to other countries in the region which attracted western financial institutions that helped singapore develop inspite of having no resources and no water of its own.
