sa akong personal na experience, yes jud ang tubag if mag upgrade from HDD to SSD.

ni palit ko ug Kingston 120GB VX300 bisag bati kaayo siya ug reviews but it significantly improved the performance sa akong karaan na laptop. Para nako, any SSD is better than any HDD.

I also have a Thinkpad E130 (Core i3 version). migrated the 500GB hdd to Samsung EVO 120GB.

Just a sidenote... the Thinkpad E130 has a MSata slot so you could use MSATA based SSD along with your current hdd.

it's never too late to upgrade to SSD imo. About unsa nga brand, suggest nako Crucial MX100. Currently the best ssd in terms of gb/dollar. Ayaw kaayo pag mind anang read/write speeds. Relevant ra na siya if ga transfer ka ug file from one ssd to another perminti kada adlaw. Ang mahalata jud nimo kay ang response time which is pare-pareha ra na sa tanang SSD.

if mg.Msata, murag dili nko feel since madoble na nuon ang hdd -- mas modako energy consumption and mas pabor nko if ang realibility sa ssd nga walay moving parts kay sahay luhagan raba ko... mo ok ra ang ssd nalang gyud kaysa hdd + ssd...

payts na guro nko 840 evo sir..hehe.. dili man sad ni pang gaming..

afaik, same ra gyud sya as installing a hdd.

Ang katong akong nasuwayan nga Samsung Evo 120GB had a migration tool. I needed a usb sata enclosure to connect the ssd to. Straightforward ra man ang migration process.. follow instructions lang ko.(it also gives you an option whether to include your documents and other files incase ur ssd cant accomodate all the data from ur hdd) After the migration, i replaced the hdd with my ssd. No need na to reinstall the OS and Program Files.
