I don't like these "keyboard warriors" that are only brave once he/she's online on some message board like iSTORYA. Local politicians in the Philippines doesn't even have people who look around these websites and report it to them. If online is the only means to reach out to them, then message them through Facebook or Twitter. It's getting annoying when same people here ranting the same issues in every thread here.

Do something. Join a political party. Attend a public rally or protest about something you're passionate about. Donate any humble amount, donate non-perishable items, or offer your free time to volunteer for a non-profit organization. Send letters to politicians and tell them you're tracking their promises. Make these politicians accountable. Ranting on issues through online forum is not enough. Democracy is not just about voting and having the right of free speech, it's also about the RIGHT to participate in civil engagement.

Unsaon na man lang ning mga online activist dri, na mas dako man daw ilahang natampo sa pagsaway sa gobyerno outside this forum... perhaps in the other forum? LOL... Well for me Keyboard Warrior ako napili kay I find no reason to protest inside a forum, so rather protest sa ga-protest sa sulod sa forum and that makes me believe I am a keyboard warrior.. It all started a month or so and will be soaring still using my Left and Right Wing belief that argumentum ad populum is not always the case.

I don't align to any party, but I am active in my community. I've attended to many rallies and assemblies both in the Philippines and in the U.S., used to I'd be there to heckle the KKK and when they're in town, or the WBC back when I was fresh out of high school--even though I firmly believe these groups have the right to express and speech. And I've participated in various petitions and wrote to various elected representatives (one recently about gun laws), in the Philippines my activism is less political in nature. Since I do a lot of back and forth travelling between the U.S. and the Philippines, I actually concern myself with a lot of issues--issues in which my stance may not conform all-throughout as I believe different environments do not necessarily call for the same solutions. Aside from that, I do my share of ranting online. As for this term "keyboard warrior", I have no qualms with them. Different strokes for different folks. We can't really call them slackers, because we don't know if they can afford the time to do an actual protest. It's too judgmental to be calling them "lazy" or "slackers", because we don't know them aside from their internet handle. Fact is, it is less time consuming to rant online than to be in an actual protest/rally. Maybe these guys feel passionate about these issues that they have the need to express it but can't because of other circumstances like being too busy. Even if that's not the case, I don't have any right whatsoever to be telling them what to do with their time.

At least I have contributed something instead of just ranting online. The point that I was trying to say is participate to civil engagement if one really has a serious concern on social or political issue. Okay I'm good... I don't really engaged to any of it, I find it too risky. I simply do things my way, help that don't really count, casual conversation with friends or strangers about life and living. Nothing really active, I don't vote but I encourage people to practice their right and all that basic stuff a regular person need. I am neither Pro nor anti, but I have a weird rebellious nature and I am now a keyboard warrior fighting out for the right and left corner of the ring, balimbing..or shall I say anti-whiner...

Nowhere in my post that they shouldn't have the right to online whining if they don't participate into a real civil engagement. I was just saying those activities such as online whining, online petitions, and etc doesn't really change anything. In order to have your voice heard when it comes to issues that you deeply passionate about, you have to do more than just submitting rage posts in a message board.

I don't care for these keyboard warriors whether they've actually done anything or not, I'm just letting them know that raging it online won't affect anything.

I don't mind if one would not vote. In the Philippines, I don't think that voters can exercise to refuse a ballot or choose NOTA. Maybe not voting is their gesture of protest cuz the lack of those options. But for most, it's just apathy. For me, for those who won't vote still has the right to complain against the gov't, but they should NOT have the right to complain with election outcomes. It is just me or one of the few who don't really believe the fair outcome of the election. A single vote doesn't count under the unfair influence of vote buying, manipulation and all the fraud that is happening during the election. So I find my vote to be irrelevant, and why would I spent a single cent and my time going to voting station, knowing that any of those politicians who will win the election were but fraud. Election time in the Philippines is just like tossing a coin, the result will only determine if it "favors you" or not, there will never be a "favored us" result. You know what I mean?

With regards to whining, it is exactly what I am trying to say - what is the use whining over the internet or the forum knowing that nobody in power were be able to hear them, instead why not talk about something that really matters for everybody afar from governmental issues. Something that they can do about for their everyday life, and let them do the whining in the right place and the right time, as what you have said. Yet keyboard whiners don't encourage that, instead they tackle about the negative side of the topic until someone came across and boom you are the prey of the day... They open up an argument and wallah you were caught in a never ending debate... Does it sound necessary? to me it is non-sense... But when you are already in a middle of the war they served for you, you have to do what you have to do equip yourself and be ready to be a warrior... Hammer Time..

I often agree to people who make sense and all, it's just that you were miles away from what I posted and your understanding... Pardon me, but I consider "not enough" as "no avail"... Besides you were not actually protesting inside this forum, you simply degrade and discredit whoever you hated. So I now consider myself a Keyboard Warrior, especially made to whoever degrades, throw derogatory remarks to anybody... So you better watch out what you were posting. I am no site keeper or moderator, but I can always step in if someone hits someone without the benefit to defend itself, that is a common right that we have..
So if you feel I am hi-jacking the truck, you better stop and make amend or enjoy the keyboard chase...
