Sa akoa lang idea, pwede ba kaha nga, assuming "naa" ang kapitan sa 2Go sa bridge at that time... mangita siya ug diskarte like:

Contacting the engine room para e full stop ang main engines or dili ba kaha kung tungod sa force of inertia, e reverse ang direction sa engine para dili ma bangga? I know dili dali magpa forward-stop-reverse, pero makaya ra siguro na within 20 minutes, tutal warm/hot start naman na, dili naman kinahanglan pa e pre-startup procedures. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I know dili na standard/SOP, pero basta manrabaho nata, naa may panahon nga mo diskarte jud ta para mas efficient or successful atong trabaho.

Well according to The Rules of the Road any vessel on the Right Side 2GO has the right of passage the vessel on the left Sulpicio must yield but he did not hence the collision............

I was basing about the speed on the linked rule that you have provided.

My understanding is that reducing the ship speed would allow more time for each of the captains to assess the situation.
If one's ship/vehicle is running faster than what one's brain can process on a given situation then you are courting disaster.
That is precisely what your linked rule implies. It has nothing to do with gross tonnages or how big the ship is.

Reduce speed or take the way off the water to allow more time to assess the situation.

I agree that the bigger the mass, the bigger the damage would be at a given speed.
However the crash ratio would be also higher if the speed is also greater.

Legally speaking if they did not reduce their speed, it makes it easy for the investigators to find faults.

    Full astern (max rpm atras)
    Half astern (mid rpm atras)
    dead astern (min rpm atras)
    STOP
    Dead SLow ahead(Min rpm abante)
Half ahead ahead (mid rpm abante0
    Full ahead( max abante)

unya kabaw ka pilay speed kada usa? iconsider pa nimu ang wind ug current? unya dili mana nimu basta basta from FULL AHEAd to FULL ASTERN.... bungkag ang makina ana.well if its necessary... unya depende sad nas manuevering characteristics sa barko kung pilay distance ma overshoot from FULL AHEAD to FULL ASTERN,,, heheheheh..

ayaw tawn ninyo iparehas ug sakyanan intawn uy!! na naay brake,,,,
it takes an experience seaman to master a certain VESSEL

that's why a CAPTAIN is called the "MASTER MARINER" because he is the master of his vessel

Mao bitaw sa rules walay nka state pila ang SAFE SPEED

Maayo unta if naay mahimo ang gobyerno ani noh. I mean for every major disaster naa may gihimo nga actions.

    - Titanic (SOLAS amendment, International Ice Patrol, Ships design (double hull passenger ships))
    - Exxon Valdez (too many to mention, pero apil ani alcohol policy)
    - WTO - ISPS (Maritime Security related regulation was enforced).

    @ Mang Kulas
    Nakasabot ko Mang Kulas.
What i am trying to imply is, naka MANEUVERING SPEED ba ni sila or SEA SPEED lang gihapon?

As I understand ang barko need mo change to MANEUVERING SPEED para mas dali mag slow down/maneuver.
