i think you need to have actions .

like if you're praying to passed the exam but your not studying, there's a great chance you will fail even though u prayed haha.

    from my point of view,
prayers might be answered in different ways.

if your praying for a sick to be heal - that doesnt need an action but only need a sincere heart.
if your praying that you will be successful - now this needs an action. depend on the action you made that is how successful you'l be, and that prayer you prayed will guide you.

because prayer is an act of faith, and faith without action is really not faith at all but dead.

Prayer is one of the most asked about subjects in the Christian life. We pray about fears, anxieties, problems, joys, wishes, dreams - yet often it seems the heavens are brass; God is silent and it seems "no one cares for me." Prayer becomes confusing, a burden and a cruel mockery. The fundamental fallacy in the prayer arena comes form a failure to rightly divide the Word of Truth (2 Timothy 2:15) - that is, the claiming of prayer promises that have nothing to do with the dispensation in which we live, but belong rather to a program which God Himself has interrupted and is temporarily holding. For example, consider the prayer promises made during our Lord's earthly ministry:“And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive” (Matt. 21:22).“Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of My Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 18:19).
What a wonderful promises, indeed! Yet who can deny that they have proved more discouraging than encouraging to many sincere Christians?
Reading these verses, many of God’s children have been encouraged to ask for physical healing, daily employment, deliverance from temptation and many other things in prayer, believing, but have been deeply disappointed to find their requests ungranted. Such experiences have often left deeper scars on the lives of believers than their fellow men observe.
(Matthew 7:7-8 KJV) Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: {8} For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
(Matthew 18:19 KJV) Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
(Matthew 21:22 KJV) And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
(John 14:13-14 KJV) And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
Wonderful promises, indeed! But who among us does not know the disappointment, confusion and heartache of claiming one of these promises and having it fail. That's why we develop theological "gimmicks" to explain away the seeming failures. My answer is this - the fact is that these promises do not work for us because they do not apply to our present dispensation.

Don't expect any Answer from God if you already Abandon Him

Maybe you're not just working hard enough to achieve that prayer of yours. If you do hard work then let him do the rest.
