as i've said in another discussion thread, gone are the days when we'll say, the bigger PSU wattage, the better it is... all PC components now required and consumes less juice... so, it would be wise to plan what PSU would be used for the intended set-up...
Maybe, but others who re-uses their psu for the next build. Hey, Seasonic offers 7 years warranty for their Platinum psus. Most companies are jumping to the long warranty bandwagon as well. Now this tells us that it would be wise to invest on a higher watt psu and re-use it for future builds. That's peace of mind IMO, knowing that you can add in parts or re-use it for years heck even a decade without worrying about whether the psu will be able to handle the load or not. And this not about the "higher the wattage, the better nonsense" that myth is already buried in the ground for years, let it go. This is about avoiding the hassle of reselling your expensive, high efficient psu because you only bought what's needed and now your thinking about doing crossfire/SLI and it's not enough. Believe it or not there are users like me who finds it strenous to sell 2nd hand parts.

With regards to efficiency, PSUs are so efficient right now that you don't have to worry about getting less efficiency if it goes below 50% load. With most gold/platinum line-up I doubt it would even dip below 85% at 50% load.

^ yeah, you had a point also there bro... for me, if i'll change a build (major upgrade... 3 yrs minimum from the current gaming rig set-up), i'll opt to use a new PSU... capacitors and other components inside the PSU will age. it brings me peace of mind to have 100% new components on a new build... including a new PSU...
