Don't really care what the church thinks, what matters is what is in the constitution. And as of right now, Marriage Equality is not in the books.
The reason I highlighted M-W and Wikipedia's definition of marriage is to emphasize the fact that Religion and churches for that matter are of no consequence to how the law views married couples, at least that's how it should be in a democratic country where separation of church and state are in effect. We could care less what the church thinks, what matters to us is how the legal law views us
