hello,

im not a churchgoer myself but i was irked when my mom said that the local priest is collecting P10/month/family in our area, and such collection is mandatory, with matching logbook.

i confronted the lady asking for the money and told her to show me paperworks that permits the local catholic church to do such collection. she said that its for parish support. i said that our family will not give a penny unless she can show me some paperwork. i said 10 bucks is okey, but 10 bucks x 5000 families is a different story.

since when did the church authorized such activity? i know that the church survives alone thru donation, but it seems that the Catholic church itself has some hidden agenda.

where do i report or maybe clarify if such activity is indeed allowed?

Hi TS, the query actually speaks for itself already, parish support is basically financial support by people/families belonging to that particular parish.10 x 5000 is indeed some amount of cash, but if it really is for church project or for the upkeep of the community parish then your p10 would go a long way, however if the "hidden agenda" speculation happens to be true then that is not your problem anymore..the people who are behind it would be responsible for their acts, to you and most of all to God.
after all, p10 is not that much for donation man pud TS..in case gi corakot na sa church, alkanse mu ug p10 but ang nangurakot kay ilang kalag maoy na alkanse, you can either give with a clear conscience or if you're more on the skeptic side regarding donations and stuff...and if you're really serious about raising a complaint, you might wanna try asking the authorised people in the church not just the lady who gets the collection.

naa ni sa among province ts..ing ani sad, kada buwan mag house to house ang leader sa gkk nya mag collect ug 20 per family for donation churva..nya ug di ka mohatag kay dili ka tagaan ug recommendations kung magpa bunyag, kasal or magkuha ka documents from church like baptismal...
