We Filipinos are a Proud people but strangely we enjoy playing the victim (victim mentality) like blaming our former colonizers for current disposition and problems even though they've been gone for 100+ years for the Spanish and 50-60 years from the Americans. Instead of being grateful for the beneficial influences we acquired from these important nations we concentrate on the negative aspect of "slave mentality" which is actually false and non-existent. Spaniards were anti-slavery, they were probably the first European country under Queen Isabella to enforce strict orders against slavery and to impose humane treatments to 'indians', so too for post Civil-War Americans who came here and replaced them.

The sad truth is that before the Spaniards came it was our ancestors not these foreigners who were practicing slavery and an extreme social class system. A hierarchy comprised of the Maginoos (lords), Timawas (free men), Maharlikas (warriors) and the Alipins (slaves).

In other words, Filipinos were f**King themselves.

well, sad to say everyone who took part on this thread are all the while contributors to TS topic "There is truth to this post... really, so is the Filipino still worth it? " . Anyone who tries to oppose, well say your piece and we'll listen.

Sometimes, we all try to free our minds and ideas...moreover our angst on our current situation but less we think and admit that, "hey, I am part of this society. What was I thinking?" Putting the blame to anyone aint resolving anything at all.
I just hope what we have replied to this thread had opened our minds as well .

    my 2 cents share.
