This is so wrong. The problem is with the dealers, punish the dealers not the consumers!

I don't own a Honda Fit but I would advice those who have bought one to band together and seek justice for themselves! You are being robbed of your rights and privileges as CONSUMERS! If you've bought the car and it has been registered before with the LTO, why should they deny you registration now? It is NOT your fault that your cars were imported shadily and that the law enforcers did not enforce the law. Why are you the ones suffering now?

This is just another example of enforcers punishing the consumers for the wrongdoings of the suppliers/dealers.

Dapat maundang na ning culture of being victimized sa mga pinoy oy! Ako ray malooy magtanaw aning mga nakapalit ug Honda Fit nga magkabuang ug pa rehistro. Wa man jud gipangdakop ang dealer unya wala man pud sila nag-information campaign nga ang Honda Fit cars from these dealers are illegal at the time nga nipalit mo. Why man kamo may ilansang sa kuros ani nila?

I just read sunstar today, involving Cebu City Hall treasurer's daughter. She was driving Honda FIT and TFA guys pulled her over for defective headlight. She claimed that the TFA operatives harassed her but the TFA guy says she was uncooperative (refusing to give her driver's license). It also says that LTO ran her car's plate no. didn't showed up in LTO's database and Mr. Aguiluz (LTO 7 chairman) suspects that the car was illegally imported or illegally registered since it was registered in region 10 (maybe Iligan city). Naa mi'y multicab na van (cateye) pero first registered in march 2002, EO 156 says the LTO will refuse to renew vehicles that being imported after Dec. 7, 2008.

EO 156 order really is in play! This also protects legit car dealers and investors, we have Toyota and Ford vehicle factory in Laguna, (Honda maybe planning to put up since it's factory in Thailand was affected by floods I remember), we have LEAR; makers of automotive interiors here in MEPZA. If we allow this practice, I'm sure we'll lose investors and factory closure resulting to lose thousands of workers.

Importers of surplus vehicles also employ thousands of people too. From those putting these units back together to selling and servicing these vehicles. What about them?

What about the people who shelled out sums of their hard-earned money? Its like catching the drug users while continue the drug dealers selling unabated.

That's the downside, sir! But the legit car dealers and investors (esp. foreign) are complaining that the new car sales are down despite lower SRP's and promos.Don't forget na our economy now has just started roll faster than I was expected. I admit that foreign investors are the driving force of our economy apan, 'di lang ta mag-salig sa foreign investors para mo-paspas ang atong economy, maning kamot 'ta oi, create more new business. Pwede man mo-import og trucks (except p-up), heavy equipments, ambulances and hearses or coaches, I know these requires a lot of money to start with but they're legal to import.

That's why the E.O. 156 was issued, just like you said, putulin ang ugat bago ang sanga.

    Section 5. Penalty

5.1 All imported vehicles found to be in violation of any provision in this EO shall be subject to seizure without redemption by the BOC and will not be subject to registration by the LTO unless disposed of in accordance with the Tariff and Customs Code.

NOW, which is what they are doing. #2cents

that's right sir Bono. as long as it's first registration is before Dec. 7 2008, pwede ra ma renew tan-awa sa CR nimo. And among Multicab na van 2002 pa na first registered so pwede na ma-renew.
