For more than 400 years Spain was not so concerned with the history of the Philippines. Wala ma pasa ug klaro from generation to generation ang istorya mahitungod sa discovery of the Philippines. Hapit na gani mag 500 years this coming 2021. Pigafetta maybe chronicled the voyage for the benefit of Spain? There are a lot of inconsistencies or walay klaro.

    Some books stated:
Magellan circumnavigated the world . . . . . . but how can he do it when he was killed halfway?

    Others say
Sebastian del Cano led the circumnavigation of the world

But . . . Enrique de Malacca, the slave they were carrying should be given the honor as he is an Oriental and had gone back to South East Asia.

Another controversial fact is about the First Mass in the Philippines.
Historians said that it was conducted at Limasawa Island. Then lately, even Zaide concluded that the first mass was made in Masao, Butuan. Pigafetta give the name of the place as Mazzaua and also give the coordinates of the place. The coordinates recorded was much nearer to Butuan than in Limasawa. Again a lot of artifacts could be seen in Masao.

As to the Battle of Mactan, there was a series of articles written in The Freeman years ago accompanied with pictures of artifacts being dug in Camotes. The facts of the Battle of Maktang in Camotes is quite intriguing. A lot of bones were found and basing from the length of the femur and humerus bones it could not be Asian. Much more the chronicled overnight time of travel is too much considering the distance from San Nicolas to Brgy Mactan of Lapulapu City.

    On thread:

My father is from Poro Camotes. I've heard stories pud from my grandparents about this pero wala kaayo ko mutuo. Until recently, I saw a documentary sa i-witness about the truth behind the battle of mactan and gipakita didto ang mga artifacts and fossils nga na dig nila sa Mactang Camotes. Murag na convince sad jud ko. Also, I've read the diary of Antonio Pigaffeta. It was stated there that they traveled 3 hours to reach Mactan from Cebu. Ni match jud siya since every summer mag adtoan man mig Camotes, 3 hours jud ang biyahe gikan sa pier 1.

Pero kung asa man gani jud nahitabo ang battle, either sa Mactan man or Mactang, one thing is for sure... that 500 years ago, a man named Lapu-lapu defeated Magellan. And to that, mag celebrate nalang ta heheh
