sa tinood lang daghan man gud kaayo languages ang mindanao compared sa LUZON ug VISAYAS... davao is no exemption kay bisan nakahibalo ka mubisaya daghan sa mga dabawenyo nga naa pay nahibaw-an nga dialect.. most people there learned 2 or more languages and common sa ilang languages ang bisaya, ilonggo, waray, surigaonon, tagalog ug maranao language.

damn. sorry po.. to be clear i grew up in iligan city, baloi, buru-on... so close proximity actually tupad nagyud sah marawi. and we have clan relative which are in maguindanao. and our clan is based in cagayan sad. northern mindanao has so similar language.

what u miss to point is just the accent. you will know where you from if you hear there accent.. like in camiguin (love there accent hehehe). iliganon is quite unpleasant para sah mga cebuano. cebuano is sooo lambing para namo.. maranao is nice. maguindanao i dont like similar to arabic. cagayan and cebu is similar. in zamboanga there are 3 different dominant languages (tausug, chavacano, badjao).. cotabato ubay2x sad mga ilonggo. sah gensan sagol sad maguindanao, ilonggo, bisaya ug my beloved maranao folks hehehe(i worked there before). davao (some claim theyre tgalog :P) is bisaya in general though ang mga adunahan mag tagalog2x dayon aron ignon hilas..

overall.. yes, you do need tagalog if you want to travel to mindanao in case of emergency(yes, they well then think your from luzon ug kwartahan) d ka mka sabot.. lastly im restricted to surigao kay wah gyud ko alam ila language ug kuyaw malibak did2 hahaha.

hehe.. basta Mindanao bay makaingon jud ka nga "we have a lot to learn" kay sa mga dialects pa lang kada probinsya sa mindanao klase2x na.. And I agree that tagalog is the medium language there kung makig-istorya ka sa ila especially kung bago pa ka sa mindanao since our medium of educational instruction is tagalog in majority..

and speaking of davao.. most dabawenyos speaking in tagalog are business people that owns variety of businesses around the islands of philippines that's why they speak tagalog for them to be understand by any ethnicities of philippines. But of course, I am not also disregarding the fact nga naa ubang dabawenyo nga nagpa social climber lang mag speaking tagalog.
