Branding the mother as a criminal is wrong. Yes, she did not notice the girl get out of the house but this can happen to anyone.

Of course it can happen to anyone, and so does getting run over by a big ass truck and getting the entrails splattered all over the road. But ang akoa lang is that in this case bata man gud ang naligsan. Wa pa tawn nay buot.

My point is that the child has no concept/idea of what will happen to her the minute it wanders off in the street. The mother has. She is the adult in this tragedy. The minute she walked out of her house with her baby, and right after she walks back in to relative safety of her own house, her utmost and primary concern the whole time should be the safety and well-being of her baby. All other else is secondary.

How many minutes do you think it took before the kid was in plain view of the CCTV? From the video, makita na ang bata at the 1:10 mark then naligsan siya at 1:25 mark (+/- the freeze frames so probably 10 seconds). 10 seconds is TOO LONG to let a kid that age out of your sight. Naa man kaha kay anak, have you tried na nibantay ka sa imong anak at that age especially kung medyo kiat and curious ang bata and bag-o ra nakamao molakaw?

Then how many minutes after naligsan na siya and people/bikes/other vehicles passed by? How can the mother not raise an alarm that her baby has wandered off? The kid wasn't running so if the mother made an effort to look for the baby naabtan pa unta niya.

I'm sorry. We may be way-off here coz we don't know the whole circumstance that led to this unfortunate incident, pero this is my opinion on what little info we can get from this CCTV footage.

A man, Peng Yu, helped her up and then, after her requests, took her to the hospital. The old woman then blamed him and claimed that he had run into her. Peng Yu resolutely denied this. The old woman sued him. After four trials, a Nanjing judge ruled that since he admitted to being the first person to get off the bus, and in accordance with common sense, there was a greater probability that he had run into the old woman, and so he was ordered to compensate her over 45,000 RMB. This was a very famous case, often to explain why many people are reluctant to help others.
