we also don't know if people called the authorities. just cos they didnt help directly doesnt mean they didnt call for an ambulance. there were only roughly 8-10 people who passed by. yes this is shocking but china is not a democracy with human rights, so don't forget that could influence how people react.

As far as I am concerned, this woman is the criminal.



Whatever it was she was doing at the time or how important it is does not justify that her 2-year old daughter has wandered off without her noticing it.

RIP, baby girl. That video is just too painful to watch!

As per CNN the girl is still alive.
Let's hope she can recover.

Branding the mother as a criminal is wrong. Yes, she did not notice the girl get out of the house but this can happen to anyone.
I don't know if you saw the video but the fault is definitely with the first driver that hit her. She was just walking so the driver could have stopped since he wasn't even driving fast. The girl didn't run on the road so he cannot say she just appeared out of nowhere.
For driving over her with the rear wheels he should be charged with murder (if she dies) since he did it deliberately.
As a parent myself I believe the parents are already punished enough by what happened.
