cost of making the device ain't really near the retail price but the research and tests (hard work) to make the device work in proper conditions is not reflected in the component cost... ads and commercials also.

end of the day, Consumer raman ghapon ang mag control sa Price, if way consumer mupalit kay mahal, ang nagbaligya ug Manufacturer mapugos jud ug pabarato. So kita ra ghapon ang sad an.

These items are 'priced to sell'. They just don't pick up a figure from the air and say we'll sell this smart phone for this much. They study the market, they prepare sales plans, advertising budgets, etc. etc. with all the costs involved factored in the selling price of the product. And of course, they want the PROFIT. So deal with it.
