400 years under the spanish rule did have its ill effects on us, even up to this day. I too have a spanish sounding name, but that is about it. My grandfather did have his part in history as a true filipino patriot and I am proud of that. I am proud too that I try hard not be be a crab.

It is unfortunate then that the elite of our nation may have been influenced by their spanish upbringing so much so that they
may have never given any chance for ordinary 'indios' to move up and become prosperous. Up until now, the rich in our midst are obviously from spanish lineage, agree? And up until now, the saying that 'the rich are getting richer and the poor poorer' is still true..
