There seems to be a consensus that one reason why our nation is not moving forward as quickly as it should is the so called 'Filipino Crab Mentality'.

    Are you a crab?

Thank you. Like you, I've been wishing and hoping for our nation to be progressive. Still wishing....

Me? No, I am not a crab. But I would love to 'eat' them, literally and figuratively. Perhaps by doing so, I can do my share in helping to move the nation onward...

Anywhere in the world, these so called "crabs" have been sprouting since time immemorial. Heck, that's not limited to Filipinos!

i dont understand why the crab is used as a negative metaphor describing one's desire for progress. they are just little creatures living a life and trying to survive on instinct.

if you study them well enough, you will discover that crabs are very sensitive to its environment. they are survivors. somehow, just because some cross eyed and perhaps drunk poets use them as literary adjectives cast a negative shadow of them crabs.
