    I believed it's molding. Melting the rocks then putting it in the molds.

    the process using a intese heat that turn the stone to its molting state could cause the stone to be brittle, or more likely glass. but the stone mentioned on the series are still hard and sharp, that you can almost cut your self if you place your fingers on the edge of the stone and put a little presure on it
