If you Notice wala man gyud gi mention ang NATIONALITY sa tawo, foreigner raman gi butang.
Kung mo tan-aw ka sa dictionary unsa pasabot sa foreigner ?
"a person in a country who is not a citizen of that country"
Canadian or British raba ba diay na sila ?
Tanan ba sila taas ilong ug puti?
There are over 200 nationalities around the world.

Kato pud ang canadian nga O.A , foreigner doesn't mean its you, read a book or something!
If it happened in your country and it said in the newspaper "Rude foreigners" it wouldn't mean just Filipinos !
My goodness get a dictionary first before reacting !
The specific thing that the thread starter mentioned was THE RUDE foreigners ! Kato ra ang mga bastos nga dili taga Philippinas bah,,,grabee gi bisaya na na nako , excuse lang katong canadian kay dili kasabot ! Gets?

Example in the newspaper it would read : "African syndicate involved in various scams"
There are over 50 African Nationalities for crying out loud ! Only the Shallow minded and the un-educated or psychiatric person (delusion of persecution) would direct it as pointing a finger to them!!!

kung ang subject ok ra man tingali kay wala man gi mention ang NATIONALITY sa foreigner ?
ngano man mu ingon ka nga discriminatory ?
unsaon man diay pag describe sa katong tawo ang gi pasabot ....... kung mu mention pud ug puti nga tigolang ...mu comment napud ning uban nga discrimatory kay puti ?!!! toink!
Thank you for taking the time to define the word foreigner. I apologize if I missed some of the content of your post since I'm unable to read parts of it. But I think you're missing the point of why some people find this thread offensive. It's not the fact that I feel like my nationality is being singled out...it's that some people think EVERYONE not born in the philippines should be lumped into the same group. Some people are making broad and general statements about foreigners as a whole as if we ALL think, act and behave the same because we come from another country.

It would be like starting a thread called "Asians can't drive" because one time a korean driver hit you with their car......or based on your example reading a headline that says "African syndicate involved in various scams" and then starting a thread that reads: "African thieves and liars". Maybe because in Canada a very small percentage of Chinese immigrating to the country end up in triad gangs I could start a thread that reads "Asian immigrant criminals" and then refer to the population of over 2 billion people in the same group.

I have no problem with the title of this thread or the majority of the posts in it....I think it's great if people share their PERSONAL EXPERIENCES of observing foreigners being rude. But it's the concept that we all somehow fit the same mould that bothers me. Delusion of persecution??!? You seem to enjoy definitions so i will enlighten you with another:

stereotype - a set of inaccurate, simplistic generalizations about a group that allows others to categorize them and treat them accordingly

Dude has a point. We should really avoid making sweeping generalizations about people. If you've had a bad experience with a rude foreigner, then by all means, relay that experience to us so we can all shake our heads and feel superior to them. But if you start generalizing then you're no better than them (rude foreigners).

I think like any good discussion we will agree to disagree on some of your points here.

Your attitude that NOT ALL foreigners are rude is exactly what I like to hear. I think your comment shows intelligence and the ability not to judge a large diverse group of people by the actions of few. Like I said, MOST of the people here have the common sense to agree with your statement and I take no offence to pointing out those specific foreigners who are rude. Quite honestly I have met many foreigners and some of them were very rude and deserve the comments made here.

Once again I will say I don't think anyone is pointing at my nationality in particular, I just want people to be able to make the distinction that using the word foreigner is only useful in describing a group as not born here, but should not be used to describe general attitudes, beliefs or behaviour.

But perhaps you haven't taken the time to actually read all the posts in this thread, so because I'm a nice guy I will save you the time and show you what I mean. Here some quotes from this thread:

Like i had said not all but most of them....

foreigners (caucasians in general except most asians) are just (here) for fun lang.. looking for *** trips, wives /maids to attend to their whims...

    i hate koreans as well.............

foreigners see us as an inferior race man gud..thats why they act that way..

i mean ive noticed that these foreigners actually come to our country and treat us like dog poop because they see us as an inferior race.....well my point is not all foreigners are like that but mostly

USA americans are generally rude people

yes most of them really are rude. its a superiority complex they have. it's crazy.

Nationalities ARE mentioned specifically and general stereotypes are being made with comments that MOST foreigners can be categorized as rude or acting superior.

If people posted "I have met 20 foreigners and 18 of them were rude people" that's fine with me....or " there was a group of foreigners I saw at the grocery store and they were acting very rude" no problem. Even just replacing the word "MOST" with the word "SOME" to the comments transforms them from generalizations into harmless observations.

I think maybe we are on the same side, just with 2 different perspectives!! Perhaps after my psychiatrist appointments we could enjoy a beer together hehehehe Thanks for your opinions.

You seem to be one of the few people on here not making general (and often discriminatory) statements about a group of people that often come from such different parts of the world and have very distinct cultures. I find this thread little hurtful.....

First off let me say that I'm from Canada and have been here for the better part of a year travelling through various parts of this country. I lived with Filipino families and made a huge effort to try and learn the language. I didn't just go to Boracay or come to take advantage of the *** industry here. I don't spend my time at SM malls or disco bars. I visit many provincial towns and cities and spent a lot of time going to museums to learn about the distinct cultures and history of the people in this country. I travel by tricycle and jeepney and I shop at local markets and build relationships with local farmers. I always say please and thank you and address people as kuya, ate, and po rather than "hey you!". I have respect for the women I meet here and treat them as such. Like a crazy person, I try to smile at everyone I pass on the street even though only some smile back, and fewer stop me to say hello. I'll stop and chat with anyone and everyone who is willing to listen to me or has something interesting to say. I never turn down an offered meal and have tried to experience as much of the interesting and sometimes bizarre culinary scene in all the regions I've been to (still hate shrimp paste, but I keep trying lol). I'm trying to get involved in grassroots football development in this country to promote the sport for impoverished youth to use as a way to make friends, have fun, get fit and just be kids. I buy clothing at Ukay markets and pass it out to people who need it most, especially when I'm in baguio where it gets cold at night. I always order extra food at the restaurant near my house and drop it in the basket of the one-armed man selling watermelons 14 hours a day trying to feed his family when he's not looking, because he's too proud to accept it. I'll hold a door for a wealthy beautiful woman as often as I'd drop the loose pesos in my pocket into the cup of an elderly poor woman on the street. The money I brought to this country I'm using to start a business, not opening a girlie bar in the city, but to try introduce green initiatives and technology and improve the lives of people in this country.

I know this thread is only directed at the "rudeness" of foreigners, but please remember these people you're so quick to use to paint us all with the same brush aren't rude because they're foreigners....they're just assholes! Most come and find a wife a 1/3 their age or travel to a country where they know no one because nobody can stand them in their own countries either. They would complain about anything, anywhere, no matter where they were or who they were around. Some may genuinely believe that they are superior....but guess what? It's not because of their race, it's because of their money!!

Don't pretend for a second that this country's history of having one of the greatest gaps on the planet between the wealthy and the poor hasn't existed here far longer than most visitors have been here and been widened by the people that live here. I see more indifference, rudeness and class superiority demonstrated by Filipinos towards each other than any other group. My time spent wandering the Shangri-la mall in Manila proved that while many foreigners ate lunch and did their banking there, it was the privileged locals who had 2 or 3 people from the provinces carrying their bags ten paces behind them. They won't look a salesman in the eye while he bends down for the 15th time to slip on another 10,000 peso pair of shoes. They get in their tinted out SUV and have their driver take them back to their massive mansion "protected" from the masses by their gated and guarded communities surrounded by other wealthy and prominent Filipino families.

Now I would never judge ALL Filipinos based on those types of people. I would never make a statement like "Filipinos don't care about each other"....or based on the fact that I've payed a few extra pesos for goods because I'm white that "Filipino people are racist'....or because I've had pickpockets in Manila try to steal my wallet that "Filipinos are thieves and criminals". It works both ways.....
WOW! i couldn't agree more..very well said.. you are a very good example..and yeah, class superiority in phils is so true.
