not to offend you also but you need to research the evolution of the game called football. by your statements its very clear you dont have any clue about what football is. do you really have to be pinoy looking in order to represent the national team? do you really need to have a pinoy coach in order to run a football team? you are just being small headed. any national team can be coached by a foreigner as long as the credentials and experience of the coach benefits the team. try pangitag pinoy nga coach mas experensyado pa sa existing coach karun kay pak2 akong tiil. SERBIAN MAN GANI ANG COACH SA SMART GILAS NGA TO THINK DAGHAN NA KAAYO MAAYO NGA PINOY COACH... just think of that.

backread and you'll see what everyone else here is talking about. dont mind the hate posts. they just wanna kill the growth of the sport.

im not ashamed of being a fan. i am a fan of football. i am a fan of our national team. i support them coz they represent us. its everyone's honor to play for the national colors and we should be grateful to them for sharing their time for us to enjoy the most beautiful game on earth.

is football popular in the Philippines? NO
do we have a professional national football league that can supply the team with talent? NO
does the rest of the world have? YES

do we still have home-grown Filipinos in the team? YES
do we have naturalized players? NO
are many other national teams naturalizing foreign players? YES
were the "pure Filipino" members of the team plus a few fil-for members humiliated with huge defeats against a Japanese university team a few months ago? YES
are foreign countries currently assisting the team financially? YES
does the Philippine government or any government institution pay for the coach? NO

did the German Football Federation include this in their assistance package for the team? YES
did they also provide the coach for the team which explains why he is German? YES
how much is the minimum salary of a national team coach? $1,500.... per week
who used to pay for the coach salary before the Germans came? manager Dan Palami

i hope you get where this is going, bay

    Smart Gilas Pilipinas:
players from a professional basketball league (PBA): check
    naturalized players: check
    foreign coach: check

only ignorant Pinoys think that basketball is the number one sport in the world. it is literally NOTHING compared to football in the world stage. we are proud that our Smart Gilas, with players from the PBA, is a great contender in Asian basketball but in the rest of the world, national football leagues are more competitive than our PBA. That is why we can never compete without our fil-for players who have had the football training and experience abroad. why go to war with a knife when you can go with a gun?

if you have any questions please feel free to ask

para ni sa mga taw nga pure pinoy kuno sila ug ganahan sila pure pinoy tanan muduwa sa azkals.. mauwaw pud intawn mo human mo kabasa ani.

    Azkals: We are all Filipinos

There is no denying the immense pride that the Philippine Azkals have when they play for flag and country. Regardless of where they have grown up or come from, they are one in expressing their heartfelt desire to see the country’s success in international football, regardless of how people label them according to their heritage.

One niggling little notion that the mixed-race players want to dispel is the feeling that they are “less Filipino” than their teammates who grew up in the country and labored in obscurity for years, or that there is a discrimination in the treatment between them. To a man, they are adamant about their identity.

“I don’t understand when people ask us how ‘Filipino’ we feel,” explains Gier, who is expecting his first child in five weeks. “The blood that runs through us runs through our “homegrown” teammates. Just because we were born in another place or grew up in a different country doesn’t make us less Filipino. We feel Filipino every second of our lives.”

Perhaps the most touching comment was made by Gier, who recalls the years when he started with the Azkals and “nobody cared” about the team. His statement carries a lot of weight considering the fact that he has tasted high-level soccer in Europe.

“It was an unbelievable feeling (against Kuwait) for the fans to be supporting us because of football, not because we were famous, or good-looking or anything,” Gier declares. “The goal against Singapore was my proudest moment as a footballer. But that was eclipsed when Schrocky (Stephan Schrock) scored that goal against Kuwait, for us to be going into the half up 1-nil – and we deserved to be up 1-nil – against a team that is ranked 70 places higher than us in the world is a tremendous achievement.”

You can’t fake that kind of pride.
sus! ambot lang intawn. daghan kaayo pure pinoy diha nga mag pina maayo pero kutob ra sa sturya. wa jud sa buhat.

    MAUWAW UNTA MO UY!
