Before their story was made public, most of the kids in the picture need to swim from their small island to the nearest school everyday. Ila lang daw puston ug cellophane ang ilang mga notebook, libro ug mga papel aron dili mabasa. Dinhi nato makita nga taliwala sa kapit-os ug kakabos sa kinabuhi niining mga bataa, wala mapapas ang pangandoy nga makatuon.

All of these kids may have the same strong will, but it is very sad to say that only very few of them will become successful. Kun makahuman man tuod sila og eskwela sa college, maglisud pud sila'g sulod og trabaho tungod sa discrimination. Tsk.tsk.tsk. Saon nga kadtong mga manager nga graduate sa UP or Ateneo, taga-Ateneo ra man pud ang dawaton.

Di pud sila pwede magnegosyo kay wa man mopautang sa ila. Kadto raman duna na'y mga dagkong negosyo ang i-entertain sa mga lenders.

Usa pud siguro nga angay natong bag-ohon/i-improve is kanang atong panan-aw, respeto ug pagsalig sa mga poor but deserving pinoys/pinays.

hmmm..living can be surviving and surviving can be living man...one compliments the other I think...you cant rili just live and forget about surviving and vice verse.

Usa sa mga pangutana nga angay nato tubagon, naghatag ba ug opportunity ang atong yutang natawhan nga ma improve ang atong intellectual power?

I would like to use the parable of the seeds in this perspective. No matter what the seeds are, if they fall by the wayside, dili gyud na mulambo. Only those that fall on fertile grounds will grow and bear fruits for a good harvest.

This is a multi faceted concern, not limited on the central matter of the seed. But the environment on which that seed is.

Thanks to globalization, some of us are fortunate enough to be consultants in foreign lands, some just being useful, and that way their intellectual power is used and being sharpened as well.

Pero diri sa yutang natawhan, it is a struggle to survive, or simply surrender and giving up.

and oh, my suggestion is.. let us start while they are young, instill in them the love for reading. that should be simple enough.

Florida....naka ingon lang ka ana kay wala pa man kay anak......awa unya ug naa nakay anak unya makita nimo sa iya nga naa sya'y inherent smartness, di ba mausab gyud imong paglantaw sa "intellectual hopelessness" or STUPIDITY sa mga pinoy........diha ra unya sab ka maningkamot nga i-nurture ang iyang (imong future child) good qualities instead nga buhusan nimo ug puro negative.
