1. booksmart or common sense? if you say common sense
2. do you think common sense is acquired or inborn?
3. do you think everyone really has common sense? what do you think when someone say "BRIGHT MAN UNTA KA PERO BOGO LANG" does it mean he/she's academically smart but just doesnt have common sense?
1. You don't have to choose between the two when you can have them both.
2 & 3. Let me answer you by this
Common sense is an inborn rational capacity (Reid)
It is an inborn ability to sense, judge or perceive situations; grows stronger over time
With education, common sense widens and strengthens. It is directly proportional to knowledge.
BRIGHT MAN UNTA KA PERO BOGO LANG-
meaning di ka bright, bogo jud ka.
I don't really believe that there are people who are academically smart who does not have common sense. Their common sense maybe small but it does not mean that they don't have it.
common sense plus book smart = edison

sakto jud ka!
two thumbs up!
i agree with this, but more of enhanced and not acquired
You don't have to be a genius to succeed, you just have to use your brain. Those who are only good in academics are intelligent BUT they are not wise/smart. Intelligence differs from Wisdom.
If we use both education and common sense then we can succeed. If you only use common sense and believes that you don't need books then you will end up having little common sense. Don't misinterpret common sense of those who are successful from those who are ignorant. Yes there are people who have been able to succeed without even earning a degree but they don't rely purely on common sense. They have talent. Common sense plus talent (sales talk) = success.
precisely!
if you want to excel then educate yourself
I will summarize this in equations
Common sense + knowledge = success
common sense + talent = success
now you either have talent or you have education.. that's it
you basically can't succeed with common sense alone!
