I went for the Canon EOS 600D because I shoot photo and video.
With the Canon EOS 600D, you can manually adjust settings and exposure in video. The D5100 does not have that option. For more info on this, go to: YouTube - ‪Nikon D5100 RED FLAG!!! - Why I Can't Recommend the D5100 for Video‬‏
And if you're serious into movie making like I am, you wouldn't bother with auto focus, go for manual focus.
Nikon for pictures.
Canon for pictures and video.
It's your choice. Now choose.
Thanks. I checked the comments sa video and nag argue naman didto with some saying pwede daw i-lock ang exposure before setting it to video mode.
Pero your point seems to agree with the reviews ive read.
Kung photos only - nikon d5100
Kung photos and videos - canon 600d/t3i
We use Canon DSLR's in Videos for Weddings(mtv, save the date, etc..) and a 3ccd for full wedding coverage, Why because Canon has the advantage over other brands, if you can get 60D it would be better + Prime lens, manual Focusing in dslr's is prefered over Autofocus, even nikon's autofocus in video on dslr's is crappy compared to manual focusing. i use both Nikon and Canon in wedding shoots.

Thanks for your input. I'm still getting into SLR's and the 60D is just way above my budget as of now.
Looks like the 600D/T3i is the better overall solution for my needs than the D5100.
Is there really that big of a difference between the 600D and the 60D? The videos im planning to make is just for family and friends lang... i'm not really planning on shooting videos for commercial use.
I suggest get the 600D bro if you are more on video using your dslr. I'm a user of D5100 but in my preference is I'm using my slr just for taking pictures..Around 2% lang ko siguru mag use ug video. Using dslr for video as for me is not recommended unless I'm on emergency and need to use video.
Anyway Its all up to you since you know your preference, Think lang ug para asa ni nimo? For Professional Videoba, Or Hobby lang.
Naa ko d5100 before but la pa ko maka try 600d. Main disadvantage sa d5100, dli ka maka manual adjust sa exposure, dli maka manual adjust sa aperture bisan naka Av mode during video. No metering during video mode, sayang ngano wla na g fix sa nikon. Maybe mag release cla firmware update ana
if video jud imo main concern but you don't want a video cam, then get the Sony a55 bro. Continuous af during video. New technology gud, translucent mirror. Dli pareho sa uban nag continuous af daw pero dli jud 100 percent ang af. Mahal lng nag lens and accessories sa sony
confusing and 60D ug 600D
