mobo cannot restart

msi 865pe neo2 mobo lost the ability to restart.
if you shutdown the computer and push the start button it will start normally.
but if you select restart on windows it will shutdown but wont restart, with cpu fan still running.
also when you enter bios setup and exit, it wont boot to OS. monitor led indicators just blinking.
but if you start the cpu without entering set-up bios it will start normally.
all other parts are good cause i tested them with another motherboard.

try to clean up softwares that you don't use anymore. run some diagnostics such as defragmentations, checkdisk, and third party applications like CCleaner. etc...

if problem persist, then try looking for a physical appearance problem like blotted capacitors or maybe your front panel button is stuck...

@gaspar, check the board already for physical damage pero wala jud.
@explode, i think the problem is in the motherboard. ako naman gi-isolate. i tested all other parts and including hdd os to another motherboard. they are all working fine.


add lang nako:
during OS installation, inig automatic restart sa installation set-up kay dili na jud cya kabalik ug on sa display, but the cpu fan is till running. keyboard dont repond anymore. power button dont respond too.
i have to manually reset or unplug and start the cpu to continue the installation.

I think PSU ni nga problem. Try check sa 5VSB pin kung pila after shutdown kanang dili na ka restart. If below 5 volts na then change your PSU...

Correct me if i'm wrong but the 5vsb as much as i know, is standby power. This rail is responsible for wake-up functions (wake on LAN, mouse, etc.). Based on experience, TS' failing soft reboot failure is most likely software because ok raman sa cold boot.

I recommend disabling non-critical services and startup items which may be preventing the restart. Try to do a force shutdown and reboot using the following commands from the command prompt, we'll see from there:

shutdown /r /f /t 00
