Asked what she thought of the Havaianas hot air balloon, Gwenee insightfully states, “It is a nice depiction of how Havaianascan be your travel buddy. You can go to different places and be in your most comfortable self -in flipflops- whilst enjoying the place, scene, culture and moment you are in. The colors are very vibrant and playful too- just like the spirit of a traveler!” If the installation could actually fly and take her anywhere in the world, it would be a dream come true for her to go to Santorini, Greece with her fiancée and be able to get a bird’s eye view of other countries en route to her destination.
The 22-ft Havaianas Hot Air Balloon made of1,753 buttery-soft flipflops‘landed’ in Cebu last September and was stationed at the Zen Garden of The Terraces, Ayala Center. To capture the moment, an Instagram contest was held where everyone was encouraged to post Instagram photos of themselves by the balloon with the hashtag #havaianashabcebu. The photo that had the most likes by September 30 wins. The Havaianas Hot Air Balloon has since flown off to Bacolod.
