Read one book a month.
Are you ready for a new year filled with great books and fresh stories?
This year, Fully Booked invites you to try SHELF STUDY, where your bookshelf becomes a space for discovery, reflection, and learning you can use in real life. No matter what you are curious about or want to explore, there’s a book waiting for you.
We all know that resolutions can fade as the year gets busy, so Fully Booked is inviting you to join their 2026 Reading Challenge. With carefully chosen prompts, this year’s challenge encourages you to explore your interests and use what you learn in your daily life. You can also share your insights with other readers along the way.
So, who’s ready to begin?
January: Book that inspires creativity
Even as a child, you practiced creativity by exploring the world with curiosity. Psychologists say creativity helps us in many ways. No matter your job, being creative can improve your mental health, lift your mood, and even support your immune system. Whether you paint, garden, write, knit, cook, or try something new, creative activities help you see the world differently. Start your 2026 with a book that inspires your creativity.
February: Book exploring feelings and sensations
Since February is the month of love, it’s a great time to look inward and explore your feelings. You might choose a novel about a lonely main character, a non-fiction book about anxiety or trauma, or a children’s book about big emotions. The choice is yours!
March: Book about Planet Earth
This month, take a closer look at our world. Environmental issues such as food waste, biodiversity loss, and global warming affect our daily lives. Now is a good time to read books that help us understand our planet and our role in it. While you might think of speculative or dystopian fiction, this prompt encourages you to go beyond those stories. Try children’s books, travel writing, nature poetry, or any book that celebrates Earth’s beauty and helps you appreciate our unique and fragile world.
April: Book about society and people
Fiction and non-fiction books about society help us understand why people act the way they do and how we all fit into social structures. Reading these books is like stepping outside your own life to observe humanity—our actions, choices, and the truths that shape us. By the end, you might see yourself and others in a new light, with more understanding and insight.
May: Book from a genre you don’t usually read
Come May, challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone.
What’s In May?
Challenge yourself to try something new. Is there a genre you’ve never explored? You could read poetry and enjoy its language, pick up your first romance novel, or try historical fiction. Take a chance this 2026—you might be surprised by what you want.
June: Book featuring a historical event
Jose Rizal famously said, ““He who does not know how to look back at where he came from will never get to his destination.” In time for June, the month we celebrate Philippine Independence Day, we’re challenging you to dive into a historical read. Think of fascinating events in history, or hidden histories that you never learned in the classroom growing up. Our own history has plenty of intriguing events that will definitely turn the pages, but feel free to venture out. From oppression to world wars, to Japanese internment, to the birth of the Internet– there’s a lot to learn from the past.
July: Book that restores your faith in humanity
These days, the ground can feel shaky– what with the world dealing with conflicts and global risks. Here comes books to the rescue!
For July, the challenge is to read a book that provides hopeful escapism. Think books that celebrate kindness, resilience, and humanity’s capacity for connection. Comforting and healing, these books offer glimmers of light and hope when we need them the most.
August: Book that broadens your cultural understanding
We might not travel the world as much as we’d like, but we always have books. As Stephen King said, they are “uniquely portable magic.” A good book can take you to new places, help you see life from another perspective, and teach you about cultures different from your own. Try translated fiction, travel books, or any book that helps you step outside your usual experiences. Books about art, music, and traditions can inspire you to see the world in new ways.
September: Book published in 2026
As we move into the second half of the year, the challenge is for you to read a book published in 2026. By now, some new releases may have caught your attention. This month is a great time to discover new authors or try a genre you haven’t read before. Look through the shelves or ask a friend for a recommendation—you might find your next favorite book from this year.
October: Book to aid you in adulting
Growing up and living on your own is tough. While real-life experience teaches us the most, it is also helpful to hear from people who have been through it before. Books by those who have faced challenges and learned from them can give us advice, comfort, and sometimes a good laugh. They remind us we are not alone as we figure things out.
November: Book that teaches you a skill
This month, pick a special interest you have been curious about and find a book that helps you try it, one small skill at a time. Learning something new can bring unexpected joy, and it doesn’t always have to be related to your job. Often, the most rewarding skills are those we learn simply because they enrich life.
December: Book that imagines the future
As the year comes to an end, Fully Booked invites you to think about the future. Imagining what’s ahead can be fun; this helps us reflect on our fears, dreams, and goals. By doing this, we start to picture and create the world we want to live in.
