The Cebu Goes Culinary (CGC) presents the most awaited culinary event in the Visayas — the 12th National Food Showdown 2018 — on September 21 and 22 at the SM Seaside Cebu Skyhall.
A flagship project of the Hotel, Resort & Restaurant Association of Cebu, Inc. (HRRAC), in partnership with the National Food Showdown (NFS), the event is meant to help practitioners and professionals in the tourism industry develop their skills.
The event is expected to entice crowds from all over the region as students and professionals showcase their expertise in their respective culinary disciplines.
CGC 2018 was launched in a press conference held at the Cebu Grand Hotel. Gracing the festivities were top officials of HRRAC and CGC. These were HRRAC president and Cebu Grand Hotel General Manager, Carlo Anton Suarez and CGC Overall Chairperson, JulitaUrbina, the CEO and founder of the Laguna Group.
CGC 2018 is the biggest cooking, baking and bartending competition in the region. Various hotels, resorts, restaurants and the academe within the province of Cebu and its neighboring provinces participate in it.
CGC 2018 has five main categories.These are the Battle Royale, Sweet Revenge, the Compleat Chefs, Culinary Flair, and the Sensory Feast. The competition will be judged by a who’s-who of the Philippines’ culinary scene. This includes Ariel Manuel of Lolo Dad’s Café and Bistro Manuel; Glenda Barretto of Via Mare; the multi-awarded chef of 9501, Raul Ramos and Robby Coco of Cyma Greek Tavern and Green Pastures.
The winners of this competition will head to the Nationals on October 26 and 27 in Manila.
Tickets are sold at P150.00 for professionals and P100.00 for students per day for two (2) venues. Tickets will be available in the HRRAC office at The Apartelle Building at theVibo Place along Escario Street. (Jonas Panerio)
