The Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature (Palanca Awards) announces this year's list of winners.
Fifty-one literary personalities emerged as winners in the recently concluded 66th Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature (Palanca Awards) held at The Peninsula Manila. Among this year’s victors, 24 were first-time winners and one contender took home prizes in two separate categories.
Professor Emeritus Antonio “Tony” O. Mabesa, who is the speaker and guest of honor this year, toasts to the success of the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature. An icon of Philippine theater and cinema, Mr. Mabesa is conferred the Gawad Dangal ng Lahi for a stellar career spanning six decades, in which he helped spark greater appreciation of literature in the academe and beyond.

Palanca Hall of Fame awardee Eugene Y. Evasco is the only contender to win prizes in two separate categories at this year’s Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature. He takes home the 3rd prize in the Maikling Kuwentong Pambata category and the 2nd prize in the Sanaysay category. Now on its 66th year, the Palanca Awards is the country’s longest running and most prestigious literary competition in honor of businessman and philanthropist Don Carlos Palanca Sr.
Joachim Emilio B. Antonio wins a gold medal at the awarding ceremony of the 66th Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature for his full-length play “The Floret Road.” The presentation of an excerpt from the said play is one of the highlights of the night.
