Bibendum Wineshop continues to offer a wide selection of fine wine in Cebu City as they celebrate their new store location in an evening of wine tasting at the 2nd floor of Streetscape in Ma. Luisa Road, Banilad last May 5.
At the event, twelve kinds of wine were served for the guest enthusiasts to try out. People started drinking the dry wine followed by the sweet wine and then finished off with the red wine.
Here are some of the wines that were served, along with short descriptions of how they tasted: The Chateau Barbeiranne Rosé 2014, a drink with nice pale pink with salmon-colored glints that tasted like a combination of peach, apricot, grapefruit and red berries seemed well-balanced and rich on the palate. Another was the Chateau Ste Michelle Gewurztraminer 2014, a flavorful wine with bright, expressive fruit and clover spice. The palate brings a slight spritz, with lighter bodied flavors that linger on the finish. It is best when paired with Thai food. Then the Poeta Merlot 2013, a medium-bodied red wine that has mixed flavors of cherry, plum and blackberry fruit with a touch of spice in the finish.
Bibendum plans to make the wine tasting regular to give people the chance to try various wines. The owner, Margaret Tayor said, “When the opportunity came up, that we’d have a place outside where our customers could sit and enjoy the wines, we said, Why not?” she added, “You can meet your friends and drink wine at a retail price. We have no service charge, so you can buy your wine and we can serve it here so you have some place to drink it with your friends,”
They carry more or less 500 kinds of wine at the shop, imported from different regions like Bordeaux, California, Washington, France, and Italy. The prices of the wines range from Php 250 up to Php 43,000.
The new location is ideal not only because of the larger space it now has, it also guarantees storage conditions with its cold climate facilities. Together with a deli that serves a range of cold cuts and cheese which you can enjoy with your wine. In addition, Bibendum has an enomatic machine that can hold eight different kinds of wine that allows you to purchase a drink per glass.
Bibendum Wines at Streetscape is open daily from 10am to 11pm.
A retail outlet, Bibendum Wine cellars, is also located inside Tinder Box open at 11am to 12 midnight.
