I don't know if I should agree with these "prolife" groups. But tell me what you think.

Church calls for ban of condom ads

A FORMER official of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) supports the call of a pro-life group to ban all condom and contraceptive advertisement on television and radio.
"That will be taken up by CBCP-Episcopal Commission on Family and Life for the plenary assembly. I think they have a valid cause because advertisement in television is very public and it can be seen by anybody, whether young or old," former CBCP president Oscar Cruz said.

Family Media Advocacy Foundation (Famaf) together with AIDS-FREE Philippines Inc., Human Life International and other pro-life legislators on Monday denounced the condom advertisements being aired on the radio and TV noting that the advertisement directly promotes sexual promiscuity among the young.
"The ads convey a vulgar message and mock the sensibilities of audiences," Jo Imbong, Famaf executive director said.
Cruz said the selling of condoms is promoting safe *** among the people, noting that it also not a guarantee that Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) will be prevented by using condoms.
"If that thing can prevent the spread of AIDS and other sexual transmitted diseases, how come AIDS cases are increasing," he stressed.
Edgardo Sorreta, director of Pro-Life Philippines, said condom advertisements violates the innocence of the young as their impressionistic minds are subconsciously formed with wrong values on ***.
The group further said advertising also has its own Code of Ethics to follow.
"Advertising has a social, economic, and cultural responsibility to the community and the advertiser's interest should take into account community interest," said Imbong.
The group already sought the cooperation of the Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) and the Philippine Advertising Board (AdBoard) to enforce the ethical norms embodied in the Radio, Television and Advertising Codes.
