Thread: LCD TV Question

    Default LCD TV Question

To people who own LCD TV nga 1080p (1920x1080)

I've read forums about people complaining that they cannot run their LCD TV's at 1080p or at 1920x1080 when they connect it to their PC.

Ang connection they used was from the DVI connector.. naay adapter for HDMI input sa TV.

Still, ang max res they could get would only be 1280x1024 or ang uban kay 720p ra.

Has anyone tried doing this with their 1080p nga LCD TV?

i tried hooking up my shuttle xpc to our 46" 1080p lcd hdtv in the living room using just the standard vga (not dvi) cable, and the best resolution i ever got was 1024x768,i was dissapointed and expected more considering my vid card is an 8800gt. i thought maybe this was because of the cable i was using (the tv didnt have dvi inputs) but i didnt bother trying to figure out how to get a better resolution as this was just a test and gaming in my room using my monitor is a much better experience. what does your lcd tv manual say though?

@vipvip86: try to check bro if your video card and tv are hdcp certified. one can only watch movies using their PCs and LCD tvs iff both are hdcp certified.

I havent actually bought an LCD TV (still deciding pa based on this feature).

I plan to get the 37" nga Philips which is the smallest available size nga 1080p here sa Cebu.

What's confusing me is that the Philips manual says that the limit is 1280x1024 pero I've heard of other people sa forums claiming that they were able to run their 1080p LCD TV w/ their PC at 1920x1080 using PowerStrip to set the res manually.

They also say that the LCD TV's manual mentions that its not compatible.. but they got it working anyway... thats what confused me.. It's better I get first hand experience w/ people who used a 1080p TV with the DVI/HDMI connector sa ilang PC.

Another alternative is to go to the TV stores and demo that feature.. pero I dont have a laptop w/ DVI out.

Does your TV have other inputs like HDMI? You could use a DVI - HDMI cable to connect your shuttle to the LCD TV.

    read wikipedia on DVI cable...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVI
    its all there.

you need Dual link DVI to support higher resolution.

    one more thing

DVI will be replaced with HDMI or the Display port.

no need man ang dual link DVI for 1920x1080 or 1920x1200...

for 2560x1600 man na' .. like 30" LCD imo pasabot.

Problem lang kay rare pa kaayo ang display port and HDMI capable videocards... naa naman to ang ATI pero the HD3870 and the NV 8800 series wa pa.
