    Default Youtube Abused and Overused...

YouTube (pronounced /juːtuːb/ or /juːtjuːb/[1]) is a video sharing website where users can upload, view and share video clips. YouTube was created in mid-February 2005 by three former PayPal employees.[2] The San Bruno-based service uses Adobe Flash technology to display a wide variety of video content, including movie clips, TV clips and music videos, as well as amateur content such as videoblogging and short original videos. In October 2006, Google Inc. announced that it had reached a deal to acquire the company for US$1.65 billion in Google stock. The deal closed on November 13, 2006.[3]

Unregistered users can watch most videos on the site, while registered users are permitted to upload an unlimited number of videos. Some videos are available only to users of age 18 or older (e.g. videos containing potentially offensive content). The uploading of pornography or videos containing nudity is prohibited. Related videos, determined by title and tags, appear onscreen to the right of a given video. In YouTube's second year, functions were added to enhance user ability to post video 'responses' and subscribe to content feeds

Now Youtube has been one of the most abused websites.

Anybody can upload clips with violence, animal abused.pornography, even political campaign. With recent improvements to e-mail spam filtering technology and their wider use, spammers have begun using YouTube as way to advertise: popular videos frequently have comments with links to irrelevant (and more often than not, pornographic) external sites, usually with some enticing statements (such as "Great video, go to <site> for the full version"). They may also send messages to a user's inbox (essentially in the form of a plain-text spam email). The users who send the spam comments generally use automatically generated user names, making it difficult to block them.[citation needed]. Some of these spam accounts also posted pornographic videos on YouTube. The Neo Nazi videos which are block because of its content are now available for viewing.Even here in Cebu.People have been ausing youtube. The 300 cebuano version with some words not for minors. You tube is sopposed to be viewable forr 18 year old and above.i suggest there must be a strict filtering of this site.

well yeah you have a point.. I agree.. this site is truly over used and abused... although for some, this site is a great help but for most, they make use of youtube to flaunt pornography etc. I hope they could do something about it.

Why stop at youtube? Why not filter the entire internet? *shakes head*

Anyone who has the capacity to abuse technology will do so...look at history...

    - when men learned how to paint paint on cave walls, the first violent pictures were drawn by the able cave artists, usually depicting hunting down woolly mammoths and butchering them

    - when Gutenberg invented the movable type, the first erotic stories and novels started to circulate in renaissance Europe

    - when movies were invented, it took only a few weeks when people started to shoot nude ladies

    - then eventually, you have TV, VCR's and finally, the internet...

...whatever the medium, as long as someone can do something "bad" with it, someone will. Censorship (especially BIASED censorship) will only strangle and discourage technological development, rather than encourage it. The path towards maturity doesn't lie with forceful prevention, but with proper dissemination of information.

Those who like to think of themselves as "learned people" should know what to look for, and what NOT to look for--only the gullible ones are led or tricked to see what they ought not to see. Thus the key, like in everything is, is being well-informed, and using your mental faculties to know what is being abusive and what is actually useful or not.

filtering the entire internet needs a Bill Gates.Yes you are right.Anyone who has the capacity to abuse will do so.Thats why we are calling for the site to Stop thse abusive individuals from taking advantage of thier rights to what you are calling technology.Filtering does not mean we are stopping technology but taking out worms from the fruit.

I opted to say this opinion because Im just concerned of children.Minors who are in the cafes watching when older people laughing at clips which is supposed to be only for adults.

Youtube is trying, however, with so many uploaders, they can't catch them all. You have to help by REPORTING offensive content and not just complain at istorya.net.

i agree. if they can remove those uploaded copyrighted videos like tv broadcasts then there is no reason they cant do it on other videos.

as the song goes in the u~t0b / you tube internet is for pr0n2x hehe ... Filtering is a heavy chore. If access to the internet is to be discussed, some internet cafes don't follow the non-entry of HS or ELEM students until the end of classes, some minors would even go to their barkadas house to watch youtube or browse the net.

Suppose you needed water to drink, and the only body of water around was the sea...

...would you then create a GIGANTIC FILTER/DESALINATOR that would COVER the entire sea, so that out the other end of the pipe, you'd get fresh water?

No. The more practical solution is make a small local filter/desalinator near your faucet, that would locally filter the seawater so it can be potable.

In other words, if you're worried about the 'net's content for your children, you have to be vigilant ON YOUR END--don't expect the 'net to conform to YOUR needs! Wanting to filter the SOURCE is akin to being lazy--if you want to screen unwanted content from your children, then PARTICIPATE in their using the internet--here's your chance to get closer to them as well.

It's very similar to installing that gigantic filter in the sea--it's impractical, you might even destroy the abundant sea life, and it's just downright ridiculous.
