Default MERGED: US Recession affecting Call Centers, OFW's

If the worlds biggest consumer market will go on a reccession we will also suffer.

We should acknowledge that the us problem is also our problem.

its very ovious that the us economy is weak right now.
these are the signs the the us economy is ailing.
Ongoing mortgage and credit crisis, and energy costs climb higher(oil $100 a barrel).
    Manufacturing unexpectedly contracted in December,
payrolls grew less than anticipated last month, while unemployment hit a two-year high of 5 percent.

If the us market is weak, the dollar will continue to go down.

I think the us financial geniouses are working overtime right now.

its time for them to demonstrate their skills because this week is vey crucial.

if this week is a horrible in wall street , this will conclude that their is a reccesion on the way.

THIS WEEK IS VEY CRUCIAL .

IF YOU ARE AN INVESTOR IN THE US STOCK MARKET or you follow the us economy say something.

stupid or brilliant i dont care.

    give me your 2 cents.

Our economy is very dependent on the US economy...if the US suffers, we also suffer.

Most Phil. exports and BPO's are very dependent on US market demands...so ma igo pud ta.

If the US economic geniuses are working overtime right now to avoid a recession, i'm quite sure our Phil. economic geniuses are also working overtime right now. and i'm pretty sure nikutaw na ang utok ni gloria right now...hehe

anyways, this is not something to make fun of. this is a very serious issue...

I hope the Philippines does not get dragged by the crisis in US economy. Our economy has already boomed in 2007 and the next thing to reach for is sustaining it this year and in the coming years. In my opinion the Philippines has many sectors that can be developed so that we can stand on our own and do not depend on other countries.

Hmm, I think our export industry has already entered other markets not only the US. In the JPEPA there is a provision there that allows Japan to open its markets more for Philippine export products. If this agreement is approved then there will be additional markets for Philippine goods.

Pain Street USA: '08 housing outlook
The forecast is for a longer, deeper home-price slump than previously expected, with double-digit declines in many markets.

By Les Christie, CNNMoney.com staff writer

"The United States is deep in its worst housing slump since the Great Depression, and according to a new report, it's not going to get better any time soon...

...Eighty of the 381 metro areas covered by the report will record double-digit losses, according to the report. Most of the worst-hit markets are in once high-flying areas, such as California and Florida...

...The housing slump will have a substantial impact on the overall economy, according to Moody's, which says it will depress real gross domestic product(GDP) by more than a percentage point this year and by 1.5 percentage points in 2008."...

everyone was crossing their fingers that the sub-prime crisis won't spill over on other sectors, or at least the effects will be minimal. now it seems that the whole conflagration is spreading.

because we are an export-oriented economy (light goods, raw materials, labor) that has the US as our main trading partner, any economic hiccup that would affect demand for our products there would significantly affect how our economy performs here.

this is going to hit us hard. if we were able to weather through the 1997-98 Asian financial crisis with relatively little damage, many are afraid that it's gonna be worse for us.
