Default Unsay pasabot aning "Stepping" sa processor???

    Greetings!,

    Guys,

Pasabta kono ko palihug aning "stepping" sa processor. For example, Q6600 na G0 Stepping. Galibog gyud ko kong unsa gamit ani. Dili ko suheto ug processor gud... Binisay-a lang ha para masa makasabo gyud ko. hehehehehehehehe.

    Salamat daan...

Stepping is a designation used by Intel and AMD to identify how much the design of a microprocessor has advanced from the original design. The stepping is identified by a combination of a letter and a number.

Typically, the first version of a microprocessor comes out with stepping A0. As design improvements occur, later versions are identified by changes in the letter and number. Changes in the number (for example, A3) indicate minor design changes, whilst changes to both the letter and number are made following more extensive changes (for example, B2). Stepping allows consumers and servicers to identify a microprocessor's version.

    gt got the main idea.

For a more focused reply on your question, Q6600 has a B2 stepping before the G0 came out.. the major revision that the processor got was a lower operating voltage, lower heat dissipation and higher overclocking gains. the G0's run anywhere from 5-15c cooler PER core. the E6x50 lines also carry the G0 stepping while the lower end models carry the M0

    EDIT:

If you plan to purchase a Q6600 and would like to know if its G0 then all you need to check are 2 things, 1.) Product code on the box that says SLACR on the end of the code and 2.) on the processor heatspreader should have SLACR

in short mga revision numbers na sila sa manufacturers representing sa evolution sa particular processor...pareho pud na sa mobo, if you care to take a peak, naa na r1.0, r3.0 etc. written sa mobo.kita ko mobo sa msi, i just forgot the model, nga three revisions sya for one mobo...ang -v kai ang iyang pcie x16 operates only at 8x, the second one kai naa firewire port and the 3rd one naa na gb lan.

pahabol nga info bro...these processor stepping numbers come into place kung mag overclock ka. there are steppings nga you can only get that much using stock voltage/air cooling. mo saka gamai using water cooling systems. but there are what we call "good steps" processors that perform very stable using air cooling and stock voltage.dili ko kabalo what are the good steps sa intel and i have a little2x knowledge sa amd opteron cpu.
