ADVANTAGE OF JAVA OVER C# and VICE-VERSA

To all Java and C# programmers out there, can you list the things you think Java has advantage over C# (for Java programmers) and vice-versa (for C# programmers).

Let's not refer to Java EE vs. .Net, instead let's dwell on Java (J2SE) and C#'s syntax, features, libraries, maintainability, and ease of use.

We all know that C# is patterned after Java, so we can also include their similarities as well as their differences.

I think this would benefit all, especially those who are deciding w/c one to study.

hmm.. there are a lot of discussion going on with regards to Java and C#.. just google it and you'll find heaps..

Still depends on the programmer/logic/system design of the application. Java has advantages/disadvantages over C# and vice versa. But I prefer VB.net kay chicken pa sa manok!

-In C# your are tied to Micro$oft.
-Java can run on almost all mobile phones while C# don't
-Java can run on your browser.
-Java can run on high-end embedded devices/microprocessors

That is all I can think of now. My point is Java is more portable than C#. Both are OO and with good GUI support.

C# is a lot better in UI in Java.

C# is portable too and can run in your browser, mobile, and embedded.

For me parehas ra ang C# ang Java sa technical merits. I only choose Java kay mas dagha/dagko ang demand.

Mono is only capable of C# basic language and syntax. It is not yet a full-blown C# implementation on a non-Windows OS. Daghan pa kaayo kuwang(i.e. Windows Forms).

C# UI will only run on Windows. Unlike Java UI will run on any platform.

I am not biased, I don't like both languages and not using them professionally.
Yes, I have heard of Mono.
C# maybe has a little bit better GUI but only in windows.
I don't see any C# games on my mobile. I do embedded for work and I only see Java byte-code interpreter and no C# in the embedded world.

I only favor java because of portability.
BTW, C# is pushed by Micro$oft.
