Mandriva is nice. It has more hardware support/compatibility than some other distros.
Easy to install and configure.
If you want to compare the loaded packages/software (versions, latest updates...etc) with other distros, use distrowatch: http://www.distrowatch.com
But for me, the most supported and easiest by far is Ubuntu. They are backed by a commercial company like RedHat and is expected to release twice a year for updates. They also have the LTS (long term support) that bugs/security fixes are updated I think for 5 years. This you cannot have in other distro's except maybe RedHat.
Also the serious really hackers/experts uses Slackware.

I was a Mandriva user for a few months until i joined the Ubuntu bandwagon. This is a nice "works-out-of-the-box" distro. You can choose between Compiz Fusion and Metisse for you desktop eye-candy. Its software repository is also well updated. However, it may be a bit slow on pc's with 256MB RAM and sub-gigahertz processors.
i have multi processors, which operating software from linux would you require bro?Originally Posted by burikoy12
If by multi-processors you mean dual-core cpu's like core 2 duo or amd's turion x2, any of the major linux distributions like mandriva, ubuntu, pclinuxos, suse, fedora, etc. will handle those nicely.
