    Over 6 million everyday not so bad for an economist president..Gloria macapagal in her short term in the office has beaten other presidents in terms of lavished spending.

    [color=navy]^^I think you are mistaken.

    Malacañang under Estrada, COA noted, spent P2.37 billion in personal services and MOOE (maintenance and other operating expenses), but for nearly all transactions failed to show receipts, purchase orders and disbursement records. Estrada’s presidency likewise failed to submit detailed financial statements.

    True today's seat of government, the Malacañang, is spending about P6.5 million a day, but this not only to cover the basic housekeeping expenses – food, water, utilities, maintenance, medicines, vehicles, personnel services, etc. – but also for the he salaries, benefits and bonuses of its many regular employees in housekeeping, communication and security.

    The expenditures also include the President's trips abroad, promoting and brokering deals with other foreign nations to invest in this country.

    Just because she is the President, can anyone expect her to manage the accounts of her present household? With all the country sized problems and issues she has to deal with?

    Geez.

    The question would have to be, were these expenses necessary?

    To be truthful, I have no idea. I do not work in Malacañang. Like many I would need more insider information on how work is being done in Malacañang on a day to day basis. How many employees are currently in the Office of the President's payroll? What are their benefits etc. etc.?

    Perhaps one could ask the Senate to do an inquiry and inspect whether such expenses are indeed justified or just a pack of crap-- because that's their job and duty to do. Whatever their findings from the inquiry, the Senate can define a resolution to curb excessive expenditures.

    They say its official business. Congress is in session, yet these Congressmen go with GMA spending millions of taxpayers money. Instead of going to junkets like this, they should concentrate on working

    People are suffering from typhoons. The money should have been spent for relief operations.

    According to the administration, its a working trip. I dont think so. All I see was GMA and company enjoying wine and dine with the rich, royalty and the famous.

    It is normal, Malacañang has a lot of employees. Likewise they have to maintain the place. At present, nothing is free. To be able for the government to function well, they have to spend.

    Like staying in a 12,000 a day hotel? Its good if theres only few who go with the entourage. Congressmen alone rached 30, not to mention their boyfriends, girfriends and spouses. This is by far the largest presidential contingent on a foreign trip. Sources it reached over a hundred, what with bodyguards, Cabinet assistants to add to the expenses.

    Official trip? GMA bringing along her 4 grand children! Thats what you call a business trip?

    i guess thats the benifits of being president.

    if you can affort a billion pesos to run for office. you should be able to affort a plane ticket plus other expenses.
